About the Role

We're a Melbourne-based digital agency specialising in web development, custom digital solutions and digital marketing.

We're looking for a talented, resourceful Web Application Developer to help us design, build, deploy and maintain modern web applications, SaaS products, AI-powered solutions and custom business systems.

Problem-solving is at the core of this role. We're looking for someone who can understand technical challenges, investigate unfamiliar systems, research solutions and independently turn ideas into reliable, functional applications.

You'll work across full-stack development, APIs, custom integrations, databases, AI technologies, cloud infrastructure and production deployments.

We value practical skills, technical understanding, independent thinking and demonstrated ability over formal qualifications or years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain full-stack web applications, SaaS products and custom business solutions.
• Build modern, responsive frontend interfaces and scalable backend functionality.
• Develop, integrate and troubleshoot REST APIs, webhooks and third-party services.
• Build custom integrations between SaaS platforms, CRMs, payment gateways and business systems.
• Develop AI-powered features and integrate large language models (LLMs) into web applications and business workflows.
• Build automated workflows connecting AI services, APIs, databases and third-party platforms.
• Design, manage and optimise relational databases.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, user management and secure data handling.
• Deploy, configure and maintain applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, DigitalOcean and Vercel.
• Manage application hosting, Linux servers, databases, domains, DNS and SSL certificates.
• Troubleshoot application errors, infrastructure problems and complex integration issues.
• Implement testing, version control and deployment workflows.
• Research, evaluate and implement technical solutions for new or complex requirements.
• Improve application security, performance, reliability and scalability.

Databases

• PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar relational databases
• Database design, queries and data relationships
• Database connections, migrations and performance optimisation
• Familiarity with ORMs such as Prisma or Drizzle

Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment

• Practical experience with AWS, DigitalOcean, Vercel or similar cloud platforms
• Deploying and managing production web applications
• Linux servers, hosting environments and application configuration
• DNS, domains, SSL, networking and environment variables
• Understanding of Docker, CI/CD and deployment workflows
• Troubleshooting cloud hosting and infrastructure issues
• Understanding of cloud security, monitoring and backups

SaaS & Web Applications

• Building and maintaining SaaS products or custom web applications
• User authentication, roles and permissions
• Dashboards, admin panels and data management
• Integrating payments, subscriptions and third-party services
• Understanding of scalable application architecture
• Application testing, debugging, security and performance

• Based in South East Melbourne, Victoria, or able to attend occasional in-person meetings in the area.

You don't need to know every technology or cloud platform listed. We're more interested in strong technical fundamentals, hands-on experience and the ability to learn, adapt and solve problems effectively.

Bonus Skills

• WordPress development, including custom themes, plugins and WooCommerce.
• Shopify development, Liquid templates, customisations and API integrations.
• Experience with CMS platforms such as Payload CMS, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity and Contentful.
• Understanding of digital marketing, technical SEO and conversion optimisation.
• Experience with Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads conversion tracking and Meta Pixel.
• CRM integrations, marketing automation and email marketing platforms.
• Experience with Supabase, Firebase or similar backend platforms.
• Advanced AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS and Lambda.
