Step into a senior HR role where you'll become the trusted advisor to business leaders, guiding them through their most complex people challenges. You'll work autonomously with a diverse portfolio of clients, making strategic decisions that directly impact their success.

This role offers the chance to lead high-stakes employee relations cases and shape HR strategy across multiple organisations.

What you'll be doing

Strategic & Client Advisory

  • Act as lead HR consultant for a portfolio of clients, providing commercial and solution-focused guidance
  • Build credible relationships with business owners and senior leaders as their trusted advisor
  • Align people practices with organisational strategy and commercial objectives
  • Challenge client assumptions and articulate legal and business risks with viable alternatives
  • Anticipate people-related risks and opportunities, offering insight-led advice

Employee Relations & Complex Case Leadership

  • Lead complex employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, dismissal, redundancy, restructuring and TUPE processes
  • Oversee investigations, hearings, appeals and settlement discussions ensuring legal defensibility
  • Guide management teams during sensitive situations
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex matters

Employment Law & Legislative Expertise

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of UK employment law and case law
  • Proactively advise clients on legislative changes with practical business actions
  • Identify legal and reputational risks, recommending compliant solutions
  • Serve as internal subject-matter expert on employment law

Policy Development & Training

  • Lead review and implementation of bespoke HR policies and frameworks
  • Support HR practice audits, identifying compliance risks
  • Design and deliver employment law training for managers and leadership teams
  • Facilitate workshops and briefings tailored to client needs

What we're looking for

Experience & Knowledge

  • Significant experience in senior generalist HR role, consultancy or demanding in-house environment
  • Proven capability handling complex employee relations and employment law matters
  • Strong, current knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Experience advising and influencing senior leaders and business owners
  • Exposure to SME, multi-site or operationally intensive sectors desirable

  • Commercially astute, balancing legal compliance with business realism
  • Highly self-motivated and organised with effective prioritisation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Resilient and adaptable, comfortable working at pace in consultancy environment

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 5 minimum; Level 7 strongly preferred
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development, particularly in employment law

Special Conditions

  • This is an office-based role with an expectation to travel to client sites occasionally; a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle will be required
