Job Summary
The Research and Development Engineer conducts research on emerging technologies, materials, products, and applications in the wire and cable industry. The role focuses on improving existing products, developing and testing new products, evaluating manufacturing processes, and assessing product feasibility through technical studies and market research.
Responsibilities
Research and Innovation
- Research new technologies, products, materials, cable designs, packaging, and applications based on customer and market needs.
- Evaluate existing products and explore opportunities for product improvement and innovation.
- Conduct cost-benefit studies of new products, materials, packaging, and manufacturing processes.
- Monitor developments in wire and cable technologies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
Product Development and Testing
- Coordinate developmental trial runs involving new and existing products, materials, designs, processes, and equipment with the MES Team.
- Conduct comparative product testing and performance analysis against local and international competitors.
- Coordinate testing activities for new products, materials, cable designs, and manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate product certification activities, including UL Listing requirements, with the Quality Assurance Group.
Technical Presentations
- Prepare and present technical findings on existing and new products and technologies to the Manufacturing and Sales Teams.
- Develop comparative presentations evaluating company products against local and international competitors in terms of cost, performance, and benefits.
Safety and Other Responsibilities
- Follow established safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate superior.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in research and development, preferably in the wire and cable industry.
- Ability to conduct technical research, product testing, and comparative analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
