Build the Data Strategy Behind a New Commercial Organization

We’re building the commercial infrastructure for the launch of a new therapy, and data will be foundational to how we understand our customers, patients, markets, and business performance.

We’re looking for a commercially minded data strategist who understands how data, technology, and external partners come together to enable a pharmaceutical business.

This is not a traditional IT, data engineering, or data science role. We are not looking for someone whose primary focus is building data infrastructure, writing code, or developing analytics models. We need someone who can understand what the business needs, determine the data and capabilities required to support it, and work with technology and vendor partners to make it happen.

This is a highly visible role in a lean organization. You’ll partner across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, IT, and other functions, translating business needs into practical data and technology solutions.

What You’ll Own:

Commercial Data Strategy

  • Develop and evolve the data strategy supporting our commercial organization from pre-launch through commercialization.
  • Translate business objectives into data requirements, capabilities, and priorities.
  • Identify the external data, technologies, integrations, and partnerships needed to support the business.
  • Establish data governance and processes that enable trusted, actionable information.

Commercial Data & Technology Ecosystem

  • Evaluate and integrate third-party commercial and healthcare data, including sources such as IQVIA, Symphony, Komodo Health, Veeva Compass, Definitive Healthcare, and other life sciences data providers.
  • Partner across platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Veeva CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, AWS/Azure, and MDM solutions such as Veeva Network or Reltio.
  • Work with IT and external vendors to define requirements, evaluate solutions, manage integrations, and ensure the ecosystem supports business needs.
  • You don’t need to build these systems yourself, but you need to understand the architecture well enough to lead, challenge, and troubleshoot.

HUB, Specialty Pharmacy & Patient Data

  • Help shape data flows across HUBs, specialty pharmacies, patient services, and other external partners.
  • Connect patient-level data and integrations to broader commercial and business processes.
  • Experience with HUB operations, specialty pharmacy, patient CRM, or patient data ecosystems is particularly valuable.

Vendor Strategy & Execution

  • Translate business needs into clear vendor requirements.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and recommendations.
  • Manage data flows, integrations, deliverables, and data quality.
  • Identify gaps, troubleshoot issues, and drive solutions.
  • Maintain strategic oversight while getting into the details when needed.

How You’ll Work:

We’re a small, growing organization and intend to remain relatively lean. You’ll need to be comfortable with significant ownership, visibility, and cross-functional responsibility.

The right person will:

  • Operate comfortably between strategy and execution.
  • Communicate effectively with both senior business leaders and technical teams.
  • Influence without relying on formal authority.
  • Work effectively with external partners while staying close enough to the work to hold them accountable.
  • Translate complex data and technology concepts into practical business solutions.
  • Be comfortable wearing multiple hats in an organization where systems and processes are still being built.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Commercial data strategy experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences.
  • Strong understanding of third-party commercial and healthcare data.
  • Experience integrating data across external vendors, platforms, and business functions.
  • Familiarity with commercial technology ecosystems and data architecture.
  • Experience with HUB, specialty pharmacy, patient services, or patient data is a plus.
  • Strong vendor management and partnership skills.
  • Ability to translate commercial objectives into data and technology requirements.
  • Experience working in a lean or mid-sized organization is valuable.
  • People leadership experience is a plus.

Most Importantly:

Your primary orientation should be toward the business, not the technology.

We’re looking for someone who naturally thinks about:

What does the business need to accomplish? What data and capabilities will enable it? How should the ecosystem work together? Which partners can help us get there?

If your career has primarily centered on data engineering, cloud infrastructure, coding, data science, or building internal data platforms, this may not be the right fit.

If you operate at the intersection of commercial strategy, data, technology, vendors, and business execution, we’d love to talk.
