Senior Civil Engineer – Drainage & Highways
Location: Maidenhead, Berkshire Salary: £40,000–£55,000 per annum, depending on experience Employment Type: Full-time Office-Based: Maidenhead
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing consultancy team in Maidenhead.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Civil Engineer with proven experience in drainage and highway design who is looking to take ownership of projects from initial concept and design through to completion.
You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors and local authorities while providing technical guidance and supporting the development of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver civil engineering schemes, with a particular focus on drainage, SUDS and surface water management.
- Undertake highway, access and infrastructure design.
- Prepare technical drawings, engineering calculations, specifications and reports.
- Manage civil engineering projects from initial design through to completion.
- Liaise effectively with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and other project stakeholders.
- Review and approve designs to ensure technical quality and compliance with relevant UK standards and regulations.
- Provide technical support, guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Assist with project planning, coordination and delivery.
- Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the design and construction process.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong professional experience in civil engineering, particularly drainage and highway design.
- Proven experience delivering civil engineering projects independently.
- Strong knowledge of SUDS, surface water drainage and highway/access design.
- Experience using relevant civil engineering design and drawing software.
- The ability to produce and review technical drawings, calculations and reports.
- Strong understanding of relevant UK design standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication, organisational and project management skills.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a wider team.
- CEng and/or MICE status is desirable, but not essential.
