About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support automated manufacturing equipment — including palletized assembly lines, Cartesian robot systems, conveyors, and automated work cells — from concept through launch and continuous improvement. Ideal for someone who enjoys PLC programming, industrial automation, and solving complex controls challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Controls Programming & Automation

  • Develop/troubleshoot PLC programs: Beckhoff (TwinCAT 3), Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix — Structured Text, Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram
  • Support HMI applications; build machine sequences, alarms, diagnostics, recipes, and operator interfaces
  • Maintain controls documentation and software backups

Equipment Development & Commissioning

  • Design controls for palletized assembly lines, Cartesian robot systems, automated assembly equipment, and material handling/conveyor systems
  • Develop/commission new equipment; lead upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement projects
  • Configure and troubleshoot digital/analog I/O, remote I/O, sensors, actuators, servo systems, and VFDs

Manufacturing Systems Integration

  • Integrate equipment with MES, SCADA, and production monitoring systems
  • Support data collection, traceability, reporting, and performance monitoring; participate in digital manufacturing initiatives

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Diagnose and resolve PLC, HMI, network, motion control, and machine control issues; perform root cause analysis
  • Support maintenance and production teams to improve uptime, reliability, and OEE

Safety & Networking

  • Develop/troubleshoot machine safety systems: Safety PLCs, safety relays, light curtains, area scanners, interlocks, E-stops
  • Configure and support EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP networks

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Controls Engineering or Industrial Automation, including PLC and HMI development
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, servo motion/VFDs, industrial networking, and machine safety systems
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting automated equipment; able to read electrical schematics and control drawings

Nice to Have

  • SCADA, manufacturing analytics, and Industrial IoT (IIoT) experience
  • Beckhoff-based building automation (HVAC, AHUs, radiant heating, energy management)
  • CCTV, video management systems, access control, and alarm systems
  • Robotics, machine vision, and advanced motion control

Why join us?

  • Design and implement automated manufacturing systems
  • Work with Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, robotics, MES, and leading automation technologies
  • Join a collaborative team focused on innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Make a direct impact on next-generation manufacturing equipment
