Our Asset Condition Assessment is built on integrity, reliability and the execution of flexible delivery to our longstanding major clients. Increasingly, asset owners and managers in our built environment are demanding a greater depth and breadth of professional consulting as they navigate assurance of their pipelines, building/asset health and safety.

As our Materials Scientist operating from the geographic centre of Greater Sydney, you'll be a vital part of the team dedicated to delivering asset assessment with our opportunities driven by sustainability and innovation.

You possess expertise and a track record in materials defect identification, failure analyses with demonstrated ability to define implications, specify rectification. You are experienced, adept in technical modelling and reporting, demonstrate and expect professional discipline, and already have worked locally in pipeline defects and built asset and infrastructure evaluation where our broader ADE teams support with NDT, corrosion issues, HAZMATs, building health and air quality. You will be ready to work with a conscientious condition assessment team who wish to offer a complete service to asset owners and managers.

The Opportunity

The client market we see calls for experienced and enthusiastic engineers and scientists who enjoy in-field teamwork and provision of accurate technical documentation to inform and offer plausible solutions.

The role, open to the mid-level experienced or recent retiree wishing to back out of leisure and keen to return to part-time work to pass on their skills. The role can permit a degree of freedom and influence the shape of evolving activity in this space.

It is anticipated that you will assist in project scope definition and execution for improved infrastructure and built environment asset management. In doing so:

  • Develop initiatives to meet client needs and our ongoing Offering development
  • develop and implement procedures for the corrosion management and built asset and infrastructure defects assessment
  • plan systems and methods in this offering, and mentor to maintain and improve quality
  • confidently price and deliver interesting small and network defects assessments, where the core is around pipeline condition assessment.

To be a successful team-fit in this unique opportunity, you will have:

  • a degree qualification in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering
  • highly developed understanding of materials, pipes, NDT, problem-solving, analytical skills with succinct, clear reporting ability with meticulous attention to detail
  • experience with utilities, multistorey buildings, bridges e.g: pipelines, energy infrastructure
  • experience in pricing and project documentation, familiar with design and asset software
  • highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • initiative and a passion to mentor or develop others in the team
  • proven customer relationship management skills
  • knowledge of major client and built asset standards e.g: water and energy utilities, and BCA/NCC.
