Take ownership of complex client work. Work directly with Alpha Origin’s founding and executive team on client delivery, commercial priorities and company-building, reporting to our Head of Strategic Operations, a former military officer and BCG consultant.
ABOUT ALPHA ORIGIN
Alpha Origin is a profitable, bootstrapped independent engineering firm for critical infrastructure. We help operators find where their systems are vulnerable to compromise or failure, then engineer and test the fixes. AO works across AI and hyperscale data centers, telecom, utilities and energy, financial services, and other critical infrastructure.
The AI infrastructure buildout is raising the complexity and consequence of failure across compute, power, and connectivity. AO was founded by Special Operations, intelligence community, and national laboratory engineers. The broader team includes former consultants, infrastructure operators, and investment professionals.
THE ROLE
You will report to the Head of Strategic Operations and take day-to-day ownership of a major client relationship and the coordination of its delivery. You will work closely with AO’s engineers and client stakeholders to turn an agreed scope into a clear plan, keep work moving, and surface decisions or risks early.
The role also spans commercial work and internal operations. As you demonstrate judgment and dependable execution, you will take on broader operating responsibility and have a path into strategic operations leadership.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
-
Turn agreed client scopes into delivery plans with clear workstreams, owners, milestones and dependencies. Coordinate AO engineers and client stakeholders, and track commitments through completion.
-
Run multiple client, commercial and internal workstreams at once. Establish priorities, maintain momentum, and surface scope changes, risks or blockers early with a clear recommendation.
-
Prepare for and participate in client meetings. Build clear, polished slides and written updates, track decisions, and own the follow-through.
-
Learn enough about the technical work to ask useful questions, understand dependencies, and explain progress and tradeoffs accurately. Partner with engineers on technical judgments.
-
Build the systems, operating rhythms and information flows that improve clarity, accountability and execution speed.
-
Find bottlenecks, dropped handoffs and recurring manual work, then replace them with better processes, tools or automations.
-
Use AI tools across research, analysis, client work and internal execution, and help AO redesign how it operates around them.
WHO YOU ARE
You have experience in management consulting, client delivery, business operations, technical programs, banking or finance, or a combination of these. Consulting experience is valuable, especially alongside hands-on operating or technical work. We care about what you have personally owned and delivered more than a particular firm, title or career path.
You can structure unfamiliar problems, develop a point of view, and manage several workstreams without losing the details or the larger objective. You have examples of taking work from an ambiguous starting point through implementation, coordinating people with different priorities, and following through when plans change.
You work confidently with clients and senior stakeholders. You write clearly, build useful slides, and can turn complex information into a concise update or recommendation. You learn technically complex subjects quickly, ask good questions, and recognize when a decision needs engineering expertise or senior input.
This is a hands-on role. You should be comfortable doing the analysis, preparing the materials, maintaining the plan and closing the loop yourself. Cybersecurity experience is not required. Judgment, curiosity, learning speed and follow-through matter more.
THE ENVIRONMENT
AO is small and high-trust. People work directly with senior leaders and clients, own outcomes, and earn broader scope quickly. There are few layers and little distance between decision and execution.
Location: Washington, D.C. strongly preferred. Candidates prepared to relocate will be considered.
Timing: We would like this person to join as soon as practical and will discuss availability during the process.
COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
$140,000–$160,000 base salary, depending on experience. Profit sharing from day one. Participation in long-term company upside. Excellent healthcare and other benefits. Unlimited PTO.
