The Budget Specialist is responsible for developing, negotiating, and managing budgets for clinical research studies. This role ensures financial compliance with institutional policies, sponsor requirements, and regulatory guidelines while supporting the financial operations of clinical trials.

The Budget Specialist reports to the Budget Director.
Classification: Exempt
**Primary Responsibilities:**
* Develop and negotiate clinical trial budgets with sponsors, ensuring cost recovery and financial feasibility. * Develop feasibility budgets using the synopsis provided by BD within 5 business days. * Collaborate with investigators, study teams, and finance departments to align budgets with protocol requirements. * Analyze study protocols to identify billable services and ensure proper cost allocation. * Ensure budgets comply with institutional, sponsor, and regulatory guidelines. * Monitor expenses and reconcile budget allocations throughout the study lifecycle. * Track and report financial deviations or discrepancies to maintain transparency and accountability. * Serve as a financial liaison between research teams, sponsors, and administrative departments. * Develop and maintain a professional relationship with CROs, Sponsors, vendors, and colleagues. * Provide guidance and training on budgetary processes. * Special projects as assigned. * Other duties as assigned
**Desired Skills and Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field. * Experience in clinical research budgeting, financial management, or grant administration preferred. * Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, sponsor negotiations, and regulatory compliance. * Proficiency in financial analysis, contract management, and cost assessment. * Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast\-paced environment. * Advanced computer software knowledge in various programs, i.e. Word, Excel, etc. * Excellent task management and prioritization skills. * Strong verbal and written skills * Great interpersonal skills * Keen and acute attention to detail * Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative. * Positive, collaborative, and team\-oriented. * Ability to work in a fast\-paced environment * Excellent follow\-up skills. * Fluent in English.
