We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting the sustainment and capability of the Collins Class Submarine fleet. In this role, you will provide electrical systems engineering support across maintenance and design activities, delivering practical solutions to complex technical challenges. Working closely with onsite teams, you will conduct defect assessments, develop repair recommendations, evaluate concessions, and perform root cause investigations. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the safety, reliability, and operational performance of one of Australia's most critical defence capabilities.

This is a full-time opportunity based in WA.

Responsibilities

  • Development, review, and sign-off of maintenance engineering documents such as surveys, PDRs, calculations and drawings, as well as provision of technical direction as required.
  • Provide technical advice and direction (within approved delegations) regarding submarine maintenance to Engineering staff, Production, Projects, Quality, and to other ASC departments.
  • Analysis of defects and problems reported. Development of remedial and corrective actions to overcome and prevent re-occurrence of such defects and problems.
  • Assessment of risk to personnel, fitness for purpose and environment associated with submarine maintenance activities, as well as deferral of maintenance.
  • Inspect items that require technical direction regarding maintenance; both on the submarine and in workshops. This can require local or interstate travel on some occasions.
  • Undertake Root Cause Analysis to investigate significant defect on the CCSM and provide recommendations to improve class reliability and availability.

About you

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • Experience in the resolution of technical problems in a complex design, manufacturing or maintenance environment
  • Driven and committed to continuous learning and professional development
  • Comfortable providing engineering support onboard the submarines during maintenance activities
  • Ability to prioritise and achieve objectives while managing multiple competing tasks
  • Eligible for Australian Department of Defence security clearance
