JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for operating laser tracking and metrology equipment to perform dimensional inspection, alignment, verification and measurement of large sections, airframes and structures. Ensure products meet engineering specifications, quality standards and customer requirements through accurate measurement and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Laser Tracker Operations

Set up, calibrate and operate laser tracker systems for dimensional inspection and measurement.

Perform 3D coordinate measurements of fabricated structures, welding fixtures, and Stage vehicle Integration.

Establish and verify coordinate systems, reference points and alignment datums.

Conduct real-time measurements during assembly, fabrication and integration activities.

Perform geometric inspections including flatness, straightness, perpendicularity, concentricity and profile verification.

2. Inspection & Validation

Compare measured data against CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T

requirements.

Verify dimensional accuracy of components, fixtures, tooling, and assemblies.

Identify dimensional deviations and non-conformances and mark the exact locations for corrective measure.

Support First Article Inspection (FAI), process validation, and final quality inspections.

Generate measurement and inspection reports.

3. Assembly & Alignment Support

Assist in alignment and installation of large sections, structures, welding fixtures, machines, and equipment.

Provide dimensional guidance during fabrication and assembly.

Verify positioning of components during welding and assembly operations.

Support tooling qualification and fixture validation programs.

4. Equipment Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and verification of laser tracker equipment and

accessories.

Ensure calibration status and traceability of measuring instruments.

Maintain equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.

Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs when required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Diploma / bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Metrology, or related discipline.

2. 2-5 years of experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, or laser tracker operations.

3. Certification or hands on experience in operating products of Leica, FARO, Hexagon, API, or similar laser tracker systems.KEY SKILLS

TECHNICAL SKILLS

1. Proficiency in Laser Tracker systems (Leica, FARO, API, Hexagon, etc.).

2. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

3. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.

4. Experience with metrology software such as:

o PolyWorks

o Spatial Analyzer (SA)

o CAM2

o Metrolog X4

o PC-DMIS

5. Knowledge of coordinate systems, alignment techniques, and dimensional control.

6. Familiarity with manufacturing, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.

7. Understanding of ISO quality standards and inspection procedures.
