Job Description: POS Software Developer (Desktop, Tablet & Cloud/Web)
Role Summary
We're looking for an experienced software developer to design, build, and maintain Point-of-Sale (POS) solutions across desktop, tablet, and cloud-based web platforms. Experience building/customizing Shopify websites a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop POS applications for desktop (Windows/Linux/macOS), tablet (Android/iOS), and web (cloud-hosted, browser-based) platforms
- Build and maintain APIs/backend services to sync data across devices in real time
- Integrate payment gateways, card readers, barcode scanners, receipt printers, and other POS hardware
- Ensure offline-first functionality with reliable data sync when connectivity resumes
- Implement inventory management, billing, discounts/taxes, multi-store, and reporting modules
Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Technical Skills
- Languages: C#/.NET, Java, Python, or Node.js (backend); JavaScript/TypeScript (frontend/web)
- Frontend/Desktop: Electron, WPF, or similar for desktop apps
- Mobile/Tablet: Android (Kotlin/Java) and/or Flutter/React Native for cross-platform tablet apps
- Web/Cloud: React/Angular/Vue for web frontend; experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Database: SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQL Server) and experience with local/offline databases (SQLite) plus cloud sync strategies
- APIs: RESTful API design and integration; experience with payment gateway APIs (Stripe, Razorpay, etc.)
- Hardware Integration: Experience with POS peripherals — receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, card swipe machines
- Security: Knowledge of PCI-DSS compliance basics and secure handling of payment/transaction data
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience developing POS or similar transactional software
- Demonstrated experience shipping software across at least two of the three platforms (desktop/tablet/web)
Nice to Have
- Additional clients then a major plus +++
- Familiarity with Property Management System for Hotels
- Prior experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality tech domains
- SHOPIFY Website management knowledge
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
