Job Title: Production Engineer

Role Overview
We are looking for a Production Engineer responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production planning, process optimization, quality compliance, and safe shop-floor operations. The role involves monitoring key production processes, troubleshooting operational challenges, coordinating with maintenance and quality teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
Develop and execute daily and weekly production schedules to meet operational targets and customer requirements.
Coordinate with procurement for availability of raw materials such as billets, scrap, or concentrates.
Optimize machine utilization and manpower allocation to ensure smooth production flow.
Maintain production logs, reports, and operational documentation.
Process Monitoring & Technical Operations
Monitor and control key process parameters such as temperature, speed, reduction ratio, die profile, lubrication, and furnace conditions.
Ensure smooth operations of production equipment such as furnaces, rolling mills, extrusion presses, and other processing units.
Conduct root cause analysis of production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
Provide technical support for roll assembly, die maintenance, and equipment changeovers.
Quality Assurance & Control
Monitor product quality including dimensions, surface finish, and metallurgical properties according to defined standards.
Ensure compliance with ISO/BIS/ASTM or customer-specific requirements.
Coordinate in-process inspections and quality checks during production.
Work with quality teams to resolve product defects and implement corrective measures.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental standards across shop-floor operations.
Enforce Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines and ensure proper use of PPE.
Maintain a safe working environment while managing high-temperature equipment and heavy machinery.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance Coordination
Identify and resolve operational issues related to furnaces, rolling mills, extrusion systems, and associated equipment.
Coordinate with the engineering and maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Monitor equipment performance and ensure minimal downtime.
Continuous Improvement
Implement lean manufacturing practices such as Kaizen and 5S to improve operational efficiency.
Analyze key performance indicators such as OEE, fuel ratios, production yield, and machine uptime.
Drive initiatives to reduce production costs, minimize waste, and improve process efficiency.
Team Coordination
Work closely with production operators, maintenance teams, and quality engineers to ensure smooth operations.
Train operators on updated production techniques, safety standards, and process improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
Experience in manufacturing/metal processing/industrial production environments preferred.
