About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Backend Developer to join our engineering team and help design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems.

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in programming, data structures, databases, API development, and backend architecture. You will work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers to build secure and efficient server-side applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and applications.
• Build, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Develop backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or other relevant technologies.
• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL databases.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using JWT, OAuth 2.0, and role-based access control.
• Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and schema optimization.
• Implement asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Develop caching strategies using Redis to improve application response times.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve backend performance issues and production bugs.
• Write clean, modular, reusable, and maintainable code following industry best practices.
• Develop unit tests and integration tests to ensure application reliability.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, and DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, technical discussions, and Agile ceremonies.
• Support application deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and production monitoring.

Required Technical Skills1. Programming Languages

• Strong proficiency in Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Understanding of Python, Go, or other backend programming languages is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).

2. Backend Frameworks

• Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
• Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, and Hibernate.
• Node.js and Express.js.
• REST API development and integration.
• Understanding of Microservices Architecture.

3. Database Management

• PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
• MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• SQL queries, joins, indexing, and query optimization.
• Database normalization and schema design.
• ORM frameworks such as Hibernate / JPA.

4. API Development & Security

• RESTful API design and development.
• HTTP methods, status codes, and request-response lifecycle.
• JWT authentication and OAuth 2.0.
• Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
• API validation, exception handling, and rate limiting.
• Understanding of API security and OWASP fundamentals.

5. Cloud & DevOps

• AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
• Docker and containerization.
• Git, GitHub, and version control.
• CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Linux fundamentals and shell scripting.
• Application deployment and production debugging.

6. Distributed Systems & Performance

• Understanding of asynchronous programming.
• Message brokers such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Caching mechanisms such as Redis.
• Database transactions and ACID properties.
• Concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization.
• Basic understanding of load balancing and horizontal scaling.

7. Computer Science Fundamentals

• Data Structures and Algorithms.
• Object-Oriented Programming and SOLID principles.
• DBMS and Operating Systems.
• Computer Networks and HTTP/HTTPS.
• Low-Level Design (LLD) and basic System Design.
• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and deploying production-ready backend applications.
• Hands-on experience building microservices using Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with Redis caching and Kafka-based messaging.
• Knowledge of application monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Jest.
• Understanding of database migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio.
