Job Description: Factory Head
Exodus Futura Knit Pvt. Ltd. is a vertically integrated knitwear manufacturer near Kolkata (knitting, dyeing, cutting, embroidery, printing, sewing and finishing), making casual wear and intimate wear for domestic retail, e-commerce and export. ISO, SEDEX and BSCI certified, 900+ employees.
Role overview
This role leads all factory operations and production across both units, and is accountable to the Managing Director for output, cost, quality and delivery.
Reports to: Managing Director · Location: Sonarpur, with regular presence at Bishnupur · Experience: 12+ years in garment or knitwear manufacturing, including 5+ years in a plant head or senior production role
Responsibilities
- Run the factory end to end: cutting, embroidery and printing, sewing, finishing, packing and dispatch, and coordinate with the knitting and dyeing units at Bishnupur.
- Own production plans, line efficiency, capacity utilisation, on-time delivery and cost per piece.
- Lead the Production Manager, Maintenance Head, QC, stores and the CAD and sampling teams, and set their targets.
- Set up daily and weekly review meetings with clear KPIs (output, efficiency, DHU, WIP, absenteeism, downtime), and fix the root cause of repeated misses.
- Reduce waste: fabric wastage, cutting yield, rework and rejection, and inventory build-up.
- Work with Merchandising on order feasibility, capacity and delivery commitments.
- Make sure the factory meets compliance and audit requirements (SEDEX, BSCI, buyer audits, statutory labour and safety rules) with the Admin/HR Head.
- Manage factory cost: manpower, overtime, power, consumables and maintenance, within the monthly budget.
- Support implementation of improvement programmes with outside consultants, and build second-line leaders in each department.
Requirements
- 12+ years in garment or knitwear manufacturing with proven plant or multi-line leadership.
- Strong command of production planning, line balancing, quality systems and workforce management.
- Experience improving efficiency and reducing wastage in an existing factory.
- Comfortable dealing with buyers and auditors, and with production data and ERP reporting.
- Graduate or diploma in apparel, textile or industrial engineering; PG preferred.
Good to have: experience in a vertically integrated unit with knitting and dyeing; lean or Six Sigma training; West Bengal labour experience.
