£73,223 – £81,272
Bassetlaw District Council | Regeneration and Neighbourhoods
Lead the services people see, use and rely on every day.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior leadership role at the heart of Bassetlaw District Council, shaping services that make a real and visible difference to our residents and communities.
As our Head of Neighbourhoods, you will provide strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio of essential frontline services, including waste and recycling, fleet and transport, parks and open spaces, cemeteries, leisure services and environmental health.
It is a broad and influential role for an experienced leader who can think strategically, lead people confidently and turn ambition into excellent services.
The opportunity
As a member of our Corporate Management Team, you will play a wider role in the strategic leadership of the Council, helping to deliver our corporate priorities and Vision 2040 ambitions. You will also provide leadership through the transition associated with local government reorganisation, maintaining resilient services while managing the challenges and opportunities that organisational change brings.
You will have the opportunity to:
- provide strategic direction across a significant portfolio of neighbourhood and frontline services;
- shape responsive, efficient and customer-focused services;
- lead and empower a diverse workforce, creating a positive culture where people can perform, develop and succeed;
- oversee significant financial, staffing and operational resources with strong financial and contractual governance;
- build productive relationships with elected Members, partners and organisations across Bassetlaw;
- lead continuous improvement, transformation and change; and
- ensure residents and customers remain at the centre of how services are designed and delivered.
- You'll also provide strategic leadership across health, safety, risk and regulatory compliance, ensuring the Council's frontline operations continue to meet their statutory responsibilities.
The person we're looking for
We are looking for an accomplished and inspirational senior leader who can combine strategic thinking with the practical leadership needed to run complex, high-profile services.
You will bring significant senior leadership and management experience within a relevant professional area in a multifunctional public sector organisation, together with a successful track record of turning strategic priorities into clear plans, measurable outcomes and sustained service improvement.
You'll understand what it takes to lead successfully within a political environment, building the confidence of elected Members, colleagues and partners while offering clear and professional advice. Strong financial management, sound judgement and the resilience to lead through significant organisational change will be equally important.
Above all, we are looking for someone who can bring people with them.
You'll be visible, approachable and empowering. You'll create clarity when things are complex, build strong relationships across organisational boundaries and give colleagues the confidence and support they need to deliver excellent services for our communities.
