Role Summary
We are seeking a Student Systems Analyst to join our Student Records team within the Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SaAS), supporting the effective delivery and development of the University's student record services.
In this role, you will contribute to the configuration, development and maintenance of the University's student record system (SITS: Vision), with a particular focus on assessment, progression, awards and curriculum. You will work closely with Programme Administration and colleagues across the University to ensure student records and systems accurately reflect academic regulations and support an effective student experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of student records, systems administration or business and systems analysis to develop their expertise in a complex higher education environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, configuration, testing, deployment and maintenance of assessment patterns, mark schemes, progression rules and award rules within SITS: Vision.
- Work closely with Programme Administration to support the annual assessment, progression and awards cycle, providing expert advice, troubleshooting and systems support.
- Interpret University assessment, progression and award regulations and ensure student systems remain compliant with current requirements.
- Undertake business and systems analysis to assess the impact of changes to academic regulations, processes and requirements.
- Develop and support reporting to monitor the quality and accuracy of student record processes relating to assessment, progression and awards.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve business processes through enhancements to student systems, while contributing to system maintenance, upgrades, testing, documentation and training materials.
Essential Requirements
- Educated to first degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent professional qualifications, skills and experience.
- Experience of systems management and student records, preferably including experience of SITS:Vision.
- Experience of interpreting and applying complex regulations and requirements.
- Experience of requirements gathering, business analysis or systems analysis.
- Strong analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to learn new processes, systems and data structures quickly and apply this knowledge effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to non-technical colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritise a varied workload and meet tight deadlines.
- A flexible and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to respond effectively to operational issues and changing priorities.
- Knowledge and understanding of current issues and challenges facing the higher education sector.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of SITS:Vision syntax and system tools.
- Experience of working with academic regulations within a higher education environment.
