YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

THE WHAT

As a Development Engineer at Blackwave, you develop and industrialize manufacturing processes for advanced composite and metal technologies used in our lightweight, high-performance COPVs.

You drive the transition from prototype to serial production and work closely with components, materials, winding processes, fixtures, and molding tools to ensure our technologies are reliable, efficient, and flight-ready.

You ensure:

  • Advanced composite and metal components are developed with a focus on lightweight solutions
  • Manufacturing processes are scaled and optimized for reliable serial production
  • The team has a strong technical point of contact for process and material topics

Your tasks in detail and by priority

Develop and build the future: Work on the development and production of advanced composite products from prototype to full-scale manufacturing.

→ High Performance: Develop lightweight, high-performance solutions for aerospace applications

Engineer for lightness: Design components and production processes using composite and metal technologies with a focus on lightweight construction.

→ Accountability: Take ownership of the technical quality and performance of your solutions

Shape innovation: Contribute your own ideas, concepts, and creativity to fast, iterative development cycles.

→ Togetherness: Collaborate across disciplines and departments to turn ideas into working solutions

Scale and industrialize: Scale and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and reliability in serial production.

→ Candor: Identify challenges openly and drive practical solutions

Be the go-to expert: Support the team as a key contact for process and material topics related to components, winding, fixtures, and molding tools.

→ Playfulness: Stay curious, experiment with new approaches, and push the boundaries of lightweight engineering

Important Note: This role is focused on Development Engineering and the industrialization of our COPVs. We are not currently hiring for Software Development positions.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field
  • Initial professional experience in manufacturing processes, especially winding or lightweight construction, with experience in composite materials
  • Strong team player mindset and ability to collaborate across disciplines and departments
  • Excellent hands-on skills and a practical, solution-oriented approach
  • Creative, curious, and passionate about lightweight engineering
  • Excellent English language skills (at least C1); German skills appreciated
