General Manager – Entertainment & Hospitality

Bogart's Entertainment Center | Apple Valley, MN

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Starting at $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience, with potential performance-based incentives.

Overview

Bogart's Entertainment Center is seeking an experienced, motivated, and results-driven General Manager to lead our diverse entertainment and hospitality operation in Apple Valley, Minnesota.

We're not your typical bowling center, restaurant, or entertainment venue. As a locally owned, family-operated business, Bogart's brings together bowling, a full-service restaurant and bar, live entertainment, private events, sand volleyball, and more, all centered around our mission of delivering extraordinary entertainment experiences.

We're looking for a strong, hands-on leader who takes ownership of operations, develops exceptional teams, maintains high standards of guest service, and consistently identifies opportunities to improve the business.

The ideal candidate will bring proven management experience, strong financial and operational skills, and a genuine passion for hospitality. Experience managing bowling leagues and building lasting relationships with league bowlers is particularly important.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on an established, multifaceted entertainment business while working closely with ownership and an experienced leadership team.

  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and retain talented employees.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and develop future leaders.
  • Establish clear expectations and consistently follow through to ensure operational and service standards are met.

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Establish, communicate, and consistently enforce high standards of hospitality and guest service throughout the facility.
  • Lead by example, maintaining a visible and engaged presence with employees and guests.
  • Ensure every guest interaction reflects Bogart's commitment to extraordinary entertainment experiences.
  • Proactively monitor service quality, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions.
  • Address guest concerns promptly, professionally, and effectively, with a focus on guest satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop training and accountability systems that create consistent, exceptional guest experiences across all departments.
  • Foster an environment where employees take pride in anticipating guest needs and exceeding expectations.

Bowling Operations & League Management

  • Oversee bowling operations, including open bowling, league play, tournaments (minimal), and special events.
  • Manage and support established bowling leagues, ensuring effective communication, scheduling, organization, and administration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with league officers, team captains, and individual league bowlers.
  • Support league recruitment, retention, and growth through proactive engagement and exceptional service.
  • Coordinate league schedules, standings, payments, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Work closely with bowling staff and lane maintenance personnel to ensure a high-quality bowling experience.
  • Identify opportunities to grow bowling participation, improve league satisfaction, and maximize lane utilization.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Monitor and manage operational performance, budgets, labor costs, inventory, and expenses.
  • Analyze financial statements, P&L reports, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue, improve margins, and strengthen profitability.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and labor efficiency while protecting guest service standards.
  • Collaborate with ownership and leadership to establish financial goals and measure results.
  • Demonstrate sound business judgment and financial accountability across multiple revenue centers.

Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee daily operations across bowling, food and beverage, live entertainment, events, and other business activities.
  • Ensure consistent standards for facility cleanliness, presentation, maintenance, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Develop, document, and improve standard operating procedures to increase consistency and efficiency.
  • Proactively identify operational challenges and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Coordinate with department leaders to ensure effective communication and seamless execution.
  • Support event operations, private parties, live entertainment, and other programming as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable licensing, employment, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Partner with ownership and leadership on strategic initiatives, business improvements, and long-term growth opportunities.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • Proven General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or senior operations leadership experience in hospitality, entertainment, bowling, or a comparable service-oriented business.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, train, and develop employees and management teams.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional guest service and the ability to establish and maintain consistently high hospitality standards.
  • Experience developing employee training programs, improving performance, and holding teams accountable.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, labor management, cost controls, and operational performance analysis.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple departments, competing priorities, and a fast-paced operating environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on leadership style with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
