Retail Store Manager / Operations Manager
Full-Time Salaried Position
We are looking for an experienced Retail Store Manager / Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our growing retail business.
This is an opportunity for an experienced retail leader who enjoys building strong teams, improving operations, solving problems and having the autonomy to make a meaningful impact on a business.
Our operation extends beyond a traditional storefront. We serve customers through our physical store, e-commerce website, delivery platforms, wholesale and digital channels. This creates an interesting and fast-moving retail environment where strong leadership, organization and inventory management are especially important.
The Store Manager will work closely with ownership during the initial training period to develop a complete understanding of the business, our systems and our expectations. As you become comfortable with the operation, the goal is for you to gain significant autonomy over the day-to-day management of the store.
We want to provide an experienced manager with the tools, team and authority to make good decisions, improve how the business operates and help us continue to grow.
Your Role
As Store Manager, you will oversee the overall day-to-day operation of the business and lead the employees who make it possible.
Your responsibilities will span team leadership, scheduling, inventory management, operational standards, customer experience, merchandising, marketing and sales performance.
You'll have the opportunity to develop a dependable team, establish strong routines and improve systems so that the business operates consistently throughout the week.
Ownership will remain available for support, larger decisions and strategic direction, while trusting the Store Manager to take the lead on daily operations.
Schedule & Management Responsibility
Our store operates seven days a week, approximately 8:30 AM to 11:30 PM.
This is a full-time salaried management position, typically working five shifts per week. Your schedule may include opening or closing shifts depending on the needs of the business and your team.
An important part of the position is developing employees who can confidently operate the store when you are not physically present. Through effective training, clear procedures and thoughtful delegation, your team should understand what is expected and know how to handle routine situations independently.
As the primary operational leader, employees may reach out with questions or require guidance. We are looking for someone comfortable providing support when needed while continuing to develop a team capable of making good day-to-day decisions.
The goal is to create a well-run operation where ownership trusts you, you trust your team, and everyone understands their responsibilities.
Team Leadership & Development
A strong team is central to this role.
You will be responsible for creating an organized, professional and supportive environment where employees understand what is expected of them and have the training needed to succeed.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, train, coach and support retail employees.
- Coordinate employee schedules, availability and time-off requests.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and coverage throughout the week.
- Establish clear responsibilities and daily priorities.
- Delegate responsibilities based on employee strengths and experience.
- Ensure company procedures and assigned tasks are consistently completed.
- Provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Identify training opportunities and help employees develop their skills.
- Address performance, attendance or workplace concerns professionally and constructively.
- Encourage employees to bring forward ideas, observations and customer feedback.
- Develop dependable team members who can confidently handle greater responsibility.
We value clear and candid communication. Issues should be discussed openly and professionally so they can be resolved before they become larger problems.
Store Operations
The Store Manager will take ownership of the standards and organization of the store.
This includes:
- Ensure opening, closing and daily operating procedures are followed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, properly stocked and professional retail environment.
- Ensure employees follow established SOPs and company policies.
- Oversee cash-handling and POS procedures.
- Ensure customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Resolve operational and customer-service issues when necessary.
- Maintain appropriate store supplies and equipment.
- Monitor merchandising, pricing and product presentation.
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend or implement improvements.
- Ensure applicable age-verification and regulatory procedures are consistently followed.
You will have the opportunity to continually improve how the store operates rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
Inventory Management & Accuracy
Inventory management is one of the most important responsibilities of this position.
Because products are sold across multiple channels, maintaining accurate inventory requires strong organization and consistent procedures.
The Store Manager will oversee inventory across systems including Square, WooCommerce and applicable delivery and sales platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee receiving and verification of incoming inventory.
- Ensure products, quantities, pricing and SKUs are entered correctly.
- Maintain accurate inventory across applicable sales systems.
- Organize regular physical inventory counts and audits.
- Review employee counts and perform spot checks where appropriate.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine their causes.
- Properly document inventory adjustments, damages and transfers.
- Monitor low-stock and out-of-stock products.
- Coordinate replenishment and identify purchasing needs.
- Maintain organized back-stock and storage areas.
- Monitor shrinkage and recurring inventory issues.
- Improve procedures that help prevent future discrepancies.
The expectation is not simply to correct inventory numbers when something is wrong. We want the Manager to understand why discrepancies occur and continually improve the processes that prevent them.
Sales, Marketing & Business Growth
We want our Store Manager to have an active role in growing the business, not simply maintaining it.
You'll have the freedom to bring forward ideas and develop initiatives that can increase customer engagement and drive both in-store and online sales.
This can include:
- Plan and execute in-store promotions.
- Ensure promotions are clearly communicated and properly displayed.
- Identify products and trends that present promotional opportunities.
- Create content for digital and social channels.
- Involve and delegate to employees who are comfortable creating content.
- Encourage the team to contribute ideas for promotions and customer engagement.
- Improve merchandising and product presentation.
- Identify opportunities to direct in-store customers toward our online channels and vice versa.
- Monitor customer feedback, buying patterns and frequently requested products.
- Recommend products, promotions or operational changes based on what you observe.
- Work with ownership on larger marketing campaigns and initiatives.
We encourage experimentation and initiative. If you see an opportunity to improve the customer experience, increase traffic or generate additional sales, we want to hear your idea and help you put good ideas into action.
Customer Experience
The Store Manager sets the standard for how customers experience our business.
You will help ensure employees provide knowledgeable, friendly and efficient service while maintaining a professional environment.
This includes:
- Coach employees on customer-service expectations.
- Assist with more complex customer questions.
- Resolve complaints professionally and fairly.
- Ensure returns and exchanges follow company procedures.
- Maintain strong product knowledge across the team.
- Listen to customer feedback and identify recurring requests or concerns.
- Look for ways to improve both the in-store and online customer experience.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
We want the Store Manager to understand how the business is performing and help identify opportunities for improvement.
You'll work with ownership to review areas such as:
- Sales performance
- Inventory accuracy
- Staffing and productivity
- Product demand
- Stock availability
- Customer feedback
- Merchandising
- Promotional performance
- Operational efficiency
You will have visibility into the business and the opportunity to make recommendations based on what you're seeing firsthand.
As trust and familiarity with the operation develop, so will your ability to make decisions and implement improvements independently.

We are looking for an experienced retail leader with the confidence and judgment to take responsibility for a busy operation.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven retail management experience.
- Experience leading, supervising and developing employees.
- Experience creating and managing employee schedules.

Ownership
You take responsibility for the operation and follow issues through to resolution.

What We Offer
This position offers something that can be difficult to find in traditional retail management: the opportunity to have a genuine influence on how the business operates.
You'll work directly with ownership rather than through multiple layers of corporate management. Good ideas can be discussed, tested and implemented quickly.

- Develop and manage your team.
- Improve operational procedures.
- Organize staffing and responsibilities.
- Improve inventory controls.
- Develop promotions.
- Experiment with merchandising and marketing ideas.

We want this to become a position where an experienced manager can take pride in the operation they've helped build.
