Aviation Logistics has an exciting opportunity for Base Manager to join the Chartair team in Alice Springs.

This role will report to the Operations Manager at Chartair and will play an important role in growing our operations through a proactive can-do approach. Previous experience in management and aviation operations, while not mandatory, is highly regarded.

About the Role, You Will Need To…

  • Bring a positive can-do attitude focused on identifying solutions to complex issues while ensuring our customer experience exceeds expectations.
  • Respond in a timely, courteous, and friendly manner to client charter and airline flight enquiries and provide quotations to clients.
  • Manage base facilities and assets including buildings and vehicles.
  • Manage local operations and ground crew including safety and compliance.
  • Be available as a point of escalation.
  • Manage Chartair staff and reporting requirements under the Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program.
  • Prepare and present reports on operational performance and areas for improvement.
  • Support flight crew, engineering and stores staff as required.
  • Assist with check-in and ground handling services for Chartair flights when needed.
  • Oversee base operations including systems and processes to ensuring optimum use of assets (aircraft and aircrew and crews) ensuring aircrew roster and actual taskings follow pilot flight and duty time restrictions, in accordance with Company and CASA regulations.
  • Monitoring aircraft hours and plan aircraft maintenance scheduled as efficiently as possible In conjunction with the Maintenance Planner, Continuing Airworthiness Manager (CAM) and Chief Engineer.
  • Communicate maintenance schedules with the Chief Engineer or CAM and Chief Pilot or designate to enable efficient rostering of aircrew for both scheduled and unscheduled services.
  • Assist with charters, passenger bookings, sales quotes, aircraft planning and aircraft maintenance records in Take Flite to ensure accurate visibility assets and their location.
  • Manage accurate records for all flights, including preparation and collation of aircraft flight logs for invoicing.
  • Issue invoices as required from Take Flite as requested by the Operations Manager.
  • Be part of an on-call roster covering 24/7 duties, answer on-call phone and convert new charter enquiries.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Attention to detail particularly when it comes to workplace safety.
  • Previous management experience demonstrating your ability to lead, manage and unite a team whilst focusing on identified goals, targets and objectives.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • High level of customer service with a focus on customer outcome sand problem solving including solutions that may be “outside the box”.
  • Have a high capacity to work independently but still be very much a part of a small and dynamic team.
  • High knowledge and capability in computer programs and IT skills, including the TakeFlite platform an advantage.
  • Previous flight operations or sales management experience an advantage.
  • You will be required to undergo a medical check, drug and alcohol test, police checks, WWCC and an ability to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card. A valid driver’s license will be required.
  • Previous aviation experience and formal qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
