We are looking for an experienced Fire Safety Consultant to join us.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced fire professional to join a growing consultancy, working across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial projects.

You will deliver a range of fire safety consultancy services including Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Audits, Intrusive Compartmentation Surveys, Type 2 and Type 4 surveys, Witness Surveys and wider fire safety assessments.

You will work closely with experienced Associate Director and Director level consultants, giving you the opportunity to continue developing your technical expertise, regulatory knowledge and professional competence.

The role would suit someone who is technically capable, commercially aware and looking to continue progressing their career within a supportive consultancy environment.

What you will do

  • Undertake intrusive compartmentation surveys, including Type 2 surveys covering common areas and Type 4 surveys covering common areas and flats.
  • Undertake Fire Safety Assessments in line with the Developers Pledge, identifying and assessing base-build defects within residential buildings.
  • Carry out Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Audits and fire safety inspections across a range of premises.
  • Assess fire hazards, identify risks and evaluate existing fire safety measures and management arrangements.
  • Collect accurate and comprehensive information during site inspections and surveys.
  • Prepare clear, technically robust reports, findings and action plans.
  • Deliver allocated project work in line with agreed programmes, quality standards and client requirements.
  • Identify and escalate complex, high-risk or unusual fire safety issues where appropriate.
  • Support senior consultants with wider fire safety consultancy and project delivery activities.
  • Liaise with clients, building managers, managing agents, contractors, site representatives and other project stakeholders.
  • Attend site meetings, inspections and project meetings as required.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Who you are

Ideally, you will have: A Level 4 or higher UKAS-approved qualification in Fire Risk or Fire Engineering.

  • NFRAR Level 2 Intermediate or Level 3 Advanced registration.
  • Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and/or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
  • Proven experience undertaking destructive compartmentation surveys, including Type 2 and Type 4 surveys within residential buildings.
  • Experience surveying mid-rise and High-Rise Residential Buildings (HRBs).
  • Experience undertaking fire risk assessments, fire safety audits, fire door inspections and intrusive compartmentation surveys.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, guidance and relevant British Standards.
  • Good knowledge of fire stopping and compartmentation, including ASFP guidance and the ASFP Coloured Books.
  • Experience producing high-quality Technical Reports, Fire Risk Assessment Reports, Witness Reports and Action Plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to technical work.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

Desirable ASFP Level 3 – Compartmentation / Fire Stopping qualification.

  • Experience working on complex residential developments and HRB projects.
  • Previous experience working within a consultancy environment.
