As a People & Culture Officer, you'll play an important role in helping Council attract, recruit and onboard great people. You'll work closely with leaders and employees across the organisation, providing practical support throughout the recruitment and employment journey.

As the People & Culture Officer, you will:

  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, shortlisting, interviews, pre-employment checks, offers, inductions and probationary reviews.
  • Provide practical recruitment advice and support to leaders across Council.
  • Support recruitment marketing, employer branding and workforce attraction initiatives, including Careers@Council, campaigns, careers events and industry engagement.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records, HRIS information and compliance registers, including Child Safe and other legislative requirements.
  • Provide support across broader People & Culture functions, including employee lifecycle processes, workforce initiatives, parental leave and workplace change.
  • Assist with the interpretation and application of Awards, legislation, employment agreements, policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the People & Culture team to respond to enquiries and deliver workforce initiatives and projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve People & Culture processes, systems and service delivery.

You'll be successful in this role if you:

  • Are studying towards, or have completed, a qualification in Human Resource Management or a related discipline, or have relevant practical HR experience.
  • Have an interest in recruitment and People & Culture and enjoy providing a high level of customer service.
  • Communicate confidently and build positive relationships with people at all levels.
  • Are organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Are curious, willing to learn and committed to developing your HR capability.
  • Enjoy finding practical solutions and looking for better ways of doing things.
  • Can work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
  • For experienced applicants, can demonstrate practical experience in end-to-end recruitment and broader HR service delivery.
