About the Role
This is the execution-focused half of a Forward Deployed Engineering function at a fintech startup building global business identity infrastructure. You'll serve as the technical bridge between customers and the product team — owning implementations end-to-end, from scoping through rollout, and feeding real-world insights back into the product.
What You'll Do
-
Work directly with customers to help them successfully implement and adopt the platform.
-
Act as the primary technical point of contact across integrations, onboarding, and product rollouts.
-
Scope technical requirements early in the implementation cycle to set customers up for long-term success.
-
Troubleshoot production integration issues and guide customers toward scalable solutions.
-
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify friction in implementation flows and drive fixes.
-
Improve documentation, tooling, and processes to make future implementations faster and smoother.
What We're Looking For
-
3–5+ years in a customer-facing technical role — field engineering, solutions engineering, technical implementation, or similar.
-
Hands-on experience troubleshooting integration issues in production environments.
-
Practical knowledge of modern web application stacks and APIs (REST, webhooks, or event-driven architectures).
-
Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, or JavaScript in production settings.
-
Comfortable scoping technical requirements and designing implementation approaches directly with customers.
-
Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and data modeling for integrations.
-
Able to document technical processes, APIs, and implementation guides for customer-facing audiences.
-
Experience working cross-functionally with product and engineering, influencing decisions based on customer feedback.
-
Domain expertise in compliance (KYB/KYC/AML) is a strong plus — as is a background in identity, payments, or fintech more broadly.
-
Former Product Owners or Managers from fintech who led onboarding or KYC programs are actively considered for this role.
-
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka), or cloud platforms (AWS or similar) is a bonus.
-
Clear communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
-
Calm and effective in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
