About the Role
This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage industrial energy software company building an end-to-end platform that controls and optimises large-scale battery storage assets. You'll have a direct hand in shaping product and architecture at a critical stage of the company's growth, working across the full stack to deliver real-world impact on how European industry manages energy costs.
What You'll Do
-
Own and build core backend services that power real-time optimisation and forecasting for industrial battery systems.
-
Develop and deploy mixed-integer optimisation algorithms that process data in real time.
-
Build frontend dashboards enabling battery operators to monitor and control their assets.
-
Design and scale distributed infrastructure to support deployments across thousands of battery systems.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally to define and iterate on product features based on real deployment feedback.
What We're Looking For
-
Fluent or near-fluent German — a hard requirement, as the primary customer base is German-speaking.
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering with strong academic results (GPA equivalent better than 2.0 on the German scale).
-
Experience at an early-stage startup (small team, early years of operation).
-
Full-stack engineering experience building and shipping production applications.
-
Frontend proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript, React (Next.js preferred), and Tailwind CSS.
-
Strong backend development skills in Python, including experience with optimisation or forecasting systems.
-
Hands-on experience designing and operating scalable distributed backend systems.
-
Solid understanding of database design and data modelling (e.g. PostgreSQL or MySQL).
-
Containerisation and modern deployment practices — Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for production services.
-
Experience with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
-
Cloud infrastructure experience across one or more of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
-
Prior experience in the energy industry and/or deployed optimisations in production systems is a plus.
