About the Role
This is a founding-team engineering role at an early-stage B2B energy-tech startup building an AI-powered platform that helps industrial companies optimise their energy procurement and consumption. You'll have end-to-end ownership of the product — from architecture and backend services to customer-facing UI — and a direct hand in shaping the company's technical direction from the ground up.
What You'll Do
-
Own the full product lifecycle from design through deployment.
-
Translate product objectives into concrete requirements in close collaboration with customers.
-
Design simple, iterative solutions to complex energy procurement and data problems.
-
Build performant backend services for a data-intensive, real-time application.
-
Develop intuitive, elegant user interfaces for complex decision-support workflows.
-
Train time-series forecasting models for power consumption and renewables production.
-
Develop linear optimisation algorithms aimed at reducing customer energy costs.
-
Help choose and evolve the core tech stack (PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React, Python).
What We're Looking For
-
2+ years of software engineering experience delivering scalable web applications in an early-stage or high-intensity startup environment.
-
Proven ability to own and ship full product features independently, working directly with customers.
-
Strong fundamentals in building robust, maintainable, and scalable web applications across backend and frontend domains.
-
Experience with data-intensive backend services; familiarity with PostgreSQL, Python, TypeScript, and React is a strong plus.
-
Hands-on experience or genuine interest in time-series forecasting and/or linear optimisation.
-
Experience with FastAPI and/or Supabase is welcome but not required.
-
Generalist product-minded engineer; a background as a startup CTO or founder is a meaningful plus.
-
Comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and direct customer collaboration.
-
Curiosity for energy markets and complex, data-driven business applications.
-
Willingness to work on-site in Munich the majority of the week.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Salary: €85,000 – €140,000 per year
-
Visa sponsorship: Not available
