About the Role
This is a hands-on technical leadership role at an early-stage B2B SaaS company in the construction technology and AI space. As Head of Engineering, you'll work directly with the founders to own the technical roadmap, shape platform architecture, and build a high-performing senior engineering team — a true player-coach position with real product impact.
What You'll Do
-
Own the technical direction and roadmap, covering infrastructure choices, architecture evolution, code quality standards, and team processes.
-
Drive the vision for core platform capabilities including data lineage, document processing at scale, AI evaluation pipelines, and semantic search.
-
Work hands-on architecting and implementing complex features alongside the team.
-
Make pragmatic calls at the intersection of speed and quality across a modern stack (TypeScript, Fastify, Python, Postgres, AWS, OpenAI).
-
Hire, mentor, and develop a small team of senior engineers; define hiring standards and practices that scale.
-
Foster a high-feedback, low-ego engineering culture where ownership and growth are the norm.
-
Partner with founders on product-engineering strategy and represent engineering in investor and customer conversations.
What We're Looking For
-
~10 years of B2B SaaS full-stack development experience, including enterprise contexts.
-
Proven track record scaling systems across multiple infrastructure iterations; you've seen what breaks at scale.
-
Hands-on fluency with TypeScript, modern web frameworks, and backend API design.
-
Experience architecting data pipelines, document processing systems, or similar data-intensive platforms.
-
Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including databases, storage, and deployment automation.
-
Experience integrating AI/ML systems into production applications or evaluating model performance.
-
Significant engineering leadership experience managing at least one team in an early-stage B2B SaaS environment.
-
Startup exposure is essential — you're comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage pace.
-
Ex-founder or entrepreneurial background is a strong plus.
-
Experience with observability tools (e.g. Datadog or similar) and enterprise system integrations (ERP, procurement platforms) is a bonus.
-
Fluent in English (written and spoken); great communicator and pragmatic leader.
