About the Role We're a VC-backed (EU & US investors) AI software company in Berlin building a Sales Intelligence Platform for the wholesale distribution industry . Our platform integrates with ERP systems to surface real-time insights, automate quotes and orders, and power proactive, data-driven sales decisions for distributors. We're a small, high-impact engineering team (11–50 people total) looking for a Senior AI Engineer focused on Search & NLP to own and advance the core AI systems that directly drive revenue for our customers. Visa sponsorship is available. What You'll Do Design and implement search algorithms and NLP pipelines to process ERP data, product catalogs, and customer interactions Build recommendation systems and AI models that drive proactive sales automation for wholesale distributors Optimize retrieval and ranking systems for product matching, customer lookup, and intelligent query handling Collaborate closely with product and data teams to ship features with measurable customer impact Contribute to the AI platform architecture , working with state-of-the-art models and techniques Own ML systems end-to-end: deployment, monitoring, fine-tuning, and feedback loops What We're Looking For Must-haves (dealbreakers): Proficient in Python for NLP pipelines and APIs, and SQL for complex joins and analytics queries — both in production 3+ years of experience in software engineering Hands-on experience building systems with LLMs, RAG, vector embeddings, reranking, context management, and offline evaluation (not prompt-only usage) Practical experience with search & retrieval systems : Elasticsearch/OpenSearch + vector search (Qdrant, Weaviate, pgvector), including hybrid BM25 + semantic search Proficiency with a deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow) for developing NLP models Experience building and deploying scalable NLP APIs and microservices (REST/gRPC) with Docker/Kubernetes Strongly valued: ML system ownership: deployed models on cloud platforms (AWS/Databricks), set up training/fine-tuning pipelines, monitoring, and product-usage feedback loops Document processing & extraction: built pipelines for PDFs/emails using OCR (e.g. Tesseract), parsers, and entity extraction mapped to structured schemas or catalogs Text-to-SQL or semantic parsing: implemented or maintained natural-language-to-database systems handling real schemas and production data Nice to have: Background in B2B SaaS, ERP systems, or wholesale/distribution domains Strong CS fundamentals; comfort thriving in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment Location & Work Arrangement Location: Berlin, Germany (on-site) Visa sponsorship: available Compensation & Benefits Compensation details are not specified for this role.
