About the Role
A fast-growing, Series A AI search analytics SaaS company based in Berlin is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to architect and build the systems powering its AI-driven recommendation engine. You'll work at the intersection of scalable infrastructure and cutting-edge AI integrations, collaborating closely with product, data, and frontend teams to ship reliable, high-quality software. This is a fully on-site role (Berlin office, 5 days/week).
The company operates in the AI/ML space, helping marketing teams track, analyze, and optimize brand performance across AI search platforms. Backed by Series A funding and trusted by thousands of brands and agencies, the team is scaling quickly and looking for engineers who thrive in a high-ownership, fast-moving environment.
What You'll Do
- Architect and build backend systems that power real-time AI-driven recommendations.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable REST and GraphQL APIs, data pipelines, and database models.
- Integrate with AI model APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Llama, and others) to support live recommendation features.
- Develop and maintain automated tests (unit and integration) and CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality and rapid delivery.
- Enforce security best practices, authentication/authorization, and data privacy across backend services.
- Implement end-to-end changes across backend services with clean, maintainable, well-styled code.
- Translate product and data requirements into robust technical specifications and solutions.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor) to enhance productivity while keeping committed code concise and maintainable.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Deep proficiency in TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Functions, Cloud Tasks, PostgreSQL, and Firestore.
- Proven experience designing and building scalable REST and/or GraphQL APIs and data pipelines for AI-driven features.
- Experience integrating with AI model APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Llama, etc.) for real-time use cases.
- Strong system design and architectural decision-making skills.
- Experience implementing automated testing (unit/integration) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of security best practices, authentication/authorization, and data privacy in backend services.
- Ability to match an existing codebase's style and implement changes end-to-end.
- Excellent collaboration skills across product, data, and frontend teams.
- A demonstrated track record of exceptional performance or notable achievements.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with AI productivity tooling (e.g., Cursor or similar).
- Background at companies working in AI/ML infrastructure, LLM tooling, or marketing analytics SaaS.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $75,000 – $120,000 USD annually (or equivalent), depending on experience.
