About the Role
Join the engineering team at an AI platform company and help build the backend foundations that keep its products reliable, performant, and clear to operate. You will work on systems that bring together data from multiple sources and route AI requests under real production conditions.
What You'll Do
-
Integrate AI products that process and move substantial amounts of data across external sources and systems in real time.
-
Route streaming responses and language model requests across providers, with fallback and cost controls.
-
Monitor latency, costs, and error rates, then act proactively to prevent system degradation.
-
Improve reliability and performance under production load while keeping architecture maintainable and appropriately simple.
-
Build observability and instrumentation to identify issues and support root-cause analysis.
-
Contribute to frontend code when needed.
What We're Looking For
-
At least 3 years of backend engineering experience, including 3 years of production TypeScript experience.
-
Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes, and strong system design skills, including reasoning about performance, latency, and cost trade-offs.
-
Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, APIs, queues, and caching.
-
Experience improving platform reliability and performance, and using instrumentation and observability to debug production systems.
-
Experience with streaming responses or routing language model requests across providers with fallback and cost logic is useful.
