CodeComplete is looking for an Offensive Security / Red Team Intern who is passionate about cybersecurity, ethical hacking, and offensive security.

You will join our Cybersecurity Team to identify security vulnerabilities, conduct penetration testing, research attack techniques, and participate in controlled adversary simulation exercises.

This position offers hands-on experience in securing real-world applications, APIs, infrastructure, and cloud environments while developing practical offensive security skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform security assessments and penetration testing on Web applications, APIs, and infrastructure.
  • Identify, analyze, and validate security vulnerabilities based on OWASP Top 10 and other security standards.
  • Support Black-box, Grey-box, and White-box security testing.
  • Conduct reconnaissance, attack surface analysis, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Research and reproduce security vulnerabilities, including authentication, authorization, and business logic flaws.
  • Assist in developing attack scenarios and analyzing potential attack paths.
  • Participate in controlled Red Team exercises and adversary simulations.
  • Develop Python or Bash scripts to automate security testing tasks.
  • Research and evaluate offensive security tools, techniques, and emerging threats.
  • Document security findings, develop Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and provide remediation recommendations.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to verify security fixes.
  • Perform all security testing within approved environments and authorized scopes.

What you will learn:

  • Fundamentals of DevSecOps culture and workflows
  • Linux system administration and troubleshooting
  • CI/CD pipelines (build, test, deploy automation)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure basic level)
  • Containerization using Docker
  • Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible)
  • Monitoring and logging basics (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.)
  • Security best practices in DevSecOps (secrets, access control, basic hardening)

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and common network protocols.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
  • Basic knowledge of Web applications, REST APIs, authentication, and authorization.
  • Understanding of common security vulnerabilities such as SQL Injection, XSS, and Broken Access Control.
  • Basic programming or scripting skills in Python, Bash, or JavaScript.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to research technical topics independently and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong interest in ethical hacking, penetration testing, and offensive security.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, security techniques, and testing methodologies.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with CTF challenges, Hack The Box, TryHackMe, HackMe, etc.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as Burp Suite, Nmap, OWASP ZAP, Metasploit, or SQLmap.
  • Basic understanding of MITRE ATT&CK and adversary simulation concepts.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability exploitation, privilege escalation, and attack chains.
  • Familiarity with Docker, AWS, or cloud security concepts.
  • Experience with source code analysis or secure coding practices.
  • Interest in AI/LLM security, including prompt injection and AI application vulnerabilities.
  • Personal cybersecurity projects, security research, or GitHub contributions.

Security certifications and previous professional experience are not required.

What you will gain:

  • Hands-on experience in penetration testing and offensive security on real-world software projects.
  • Practical exposure to Web/API, infrastructure, cloud, and application security.
  • Opportunities to learn Red Team methodologies, adversary simulation, and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Experience in vulnerability analysis, exploitation validation, and professional security reporting.
  • Opportunities to develop security automation tools and improve scripting skills.
  • Collaboration with software engineers, DevOps engineers, and cybersecurity professionals.
  • Mentorship and technical guidance from the Cybersecurity Team.
  • Opportunities to explore emerging areas such as cloud security and AI/LLM security.

What we value:

We don’t expect interns to know every security tool or technique. We value curiosity, strong technical fundamentals, logical thinking, and the ability to investigate how systems work and where they might fail.

If you enjoy exploring technologies, solving security challenges, and thinking like an attacker to help build more secure systems, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits:
