Senior Accountant

We are looking for a Senior Account t o join our team!
Build the financial backbone of a growing interior finishes company within the multi-family construction industry.

This isn't a role where you inherit a rigid system and keep the lights on. You'll be the go-to accounting professional at a company that's growing, with real influence over how we track, forecast, and make decisions. You'll work directly with executive management, partner with project teams, and shape the processes that carry us forward.
What you'll do:
Own the full accounting cycle. You'll run the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, accruals, reconciliations, and fixed assets. You'll prepare ASPE-compliant financial statements and turn them into clear insight for leadership, not just a stack of reports.
Connect the numbers to the work. You'll track project revenues, costs, commitments, and margins, and partner with our project and operations teams to see how jobs are performing in real time. You'll spot variances early and help us act on them.
Keep cash flowing. You'll manage receivables, payables, and collections, maintain bank reconciliations, and build cash flow forecasts that help us plan with confidence.
Stay ahead of compliance. You'll handle GST/HST and PST reporting, WCB accounts and clearance letters, and the insurance, licensing, and project compliance documentation that keeps our jobs moving.
Plan what's next. You'll build budgets and forecasts alongside executive management and provide practical analysis that informs project planning and spending decisions.
Make things better. You'll strengthen our controls and audit trails, and you'll be encouraged to modernize workflows, reporting, and how we use our systems, so we get more accurate and more efficient as we grow.
What you bring:
- Education in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience (CPA designation or progress toward one is an asset)
- Proven experience independently managing full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close, with a solid understanding of ASPE
- Experience with project cost tracking, AR/AP, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and Canadian indirect tax and WCB reporting
- Strong skills in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred, not required) and Microsoft Excel
- A dependable, detail-oriented approach, with the judgment to manage competing deadlines and the confidence to communicate clearly with executives and operational teams
- Discretion with confidential financial information
