K-EMS Global Limited is a Birmingham-based retail and services company. Our principal current trading activity is the retail and distribution of African and Caribbean food and grocery products.
We currently serve customers through premises-based operations, online sales, customer collection and delivery arrangements. As part of our growth strategy, we are expanding our customer base, product range, online sales channels, supplier relationships, and business-to-business and wholesale opportunities.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Commercial and Marketing Manager to support the next stage of our development.
The Role
The Commercial and Marketing Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day development and implementation of the company's commercial and marketing activities.
Working with the Directors, the successful candidate will help develop new markets, increase sales, strengthen customer and supplier relationships, develop B2B and wholesale opportunities, and support the expansion of the company's physical and digital sales channels.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
developing and implementing the company's commercial and marketing strategies;
identifying new markets, customer segments and business opportunities;
developing strategies to increase customer acquisition, retention and sales;
developing business-to-business and wholesale opportunities;
identifying and developing relationships with prospective commercial customers;
strengthening supplier and other commercial relationships;
undertaking market, competitor, customer and pricing analysis;
supporting the development of commercially sustainable pricing strategies;
planning and implementing digital, community and other marketing activities;
supporting the continued development of the company's website and online sales channels;
monitoring the effectiveness of marketing and commercial activities;
identifying opportunities to increase brand awareness and market reach;
supporting the development of physical and online sales channels;
assisting with commercial planning for the company's proposed expansion into dedicated retail premises;
preparing appropriate commercial and marketing reports for the Directors; and
carrying out other reasonable commercial and marketing responsibilities consistent with the position.
These responsibilities are consistent with the Commercial and Marketing Manager role described in the company's business plan, including commercial strategy, new markets, customer acquisition, B2B/wholesale development, supplier relationships, pricing analysis, online/physical sales channels and marketing.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate should have:
a relevant qualification in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience;
relevant experience in commercial development, business development, marketing, sales, retail, customer development or a related area;
an understanding of commercial and marketing strategy;
good communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills;
the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities;
good organisational and analytical skills;
an understanding of digital marketing and online sales channels;
the ability to work independently while reporting effectively to the Directors; and
good written and verbal communication skills.
Experience within retail, food distribution, wholesale, e-commerce or a related commercial environment would be advantageous.
