About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend & Data Engineer to join Technology Innovation Hub in Warsaw. This is a hybrid position combining backend software engineering with data engineering, with a particular focus on complex database solutions, data architecture, and Master Data Management (MDM). You will work hands-on with JavaScript and TypeScript, complex relational databases, and data-driven backend solutions, while taking technical ownership of a dedicated data domain.
Responsibilities:
-
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and data-driven applications using JavaScript and TypeScript.
-
Design and implement complex relational database structures, primarily using PostgreSQL or similar technologies.
-
Take end-to-end technical ownership of a dedicated data domain, ensuring the reliability, consistency, and maintainability of its solutions.
-
Develop and optimize data models, database schemas, queries, and backend data processing.
-
Design and maintain backend solutions supporting complex data handling, transformation, and integration across systems.
-
Apply Master Data Management (MDM) principles to ensure data consistency, integrity, quality, and reliability.
-
Build and maintain integrations between backend services, databases, and other enterprise systems.
-
Identify opportunities to improve data architecture, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
-
Independently analyse technical challenges, propose solutions, and take responsibility for their implementation.
-
Collaborate with international engineering teams, business stakeholders, and other technical specialists.
Requirements:
-
8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong background in backend development and data-intensive applications.
-
Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript and TypeScript in backend environments.
-
Advanced knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL or comparable database technologies.
-
Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex database schemas and data models.
-
Solid understanding of database architecture, performance optimisation, data integrity, and data consistency.
-
Experience building backend systems involving complex data processing, transformation, or integration.
-
Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) principles, including data quality, consistency, and management across systems.
-
Experience designing and developing APIs and backend integrations.
-
Ability to independently own technical solutions and make architectural and implementation decisions.
-
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to data quality.
-
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
Nice to Have:
-
Experience working in international or distributed engineering teams.
-
Previous experience taking ownership of a specific business-critical data domain.
-
Hands-on experience implementing MDM solutions or working with enterprise master data.
-
Experience with Node.js frameworks such as NestJS or Express.
-
Knowledge of data engineering practices, including data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data transformation workflows.
-
Experience integrating data across multiple enterprise systems.
-
Understanding of data governance, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.
-
Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure or data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
-
Experience working in complex enterprise technology environments.
Recruitment Process:
-
Screening Call (30 min, on-line): A short introductory conversation with our recruitment team to discuss your background, motivation, and role expectations.
-
Cultural Fit Interview (30 min, on-line): A conversation focused on your collaboration style, communication approach, and experience working with different stakeholders in an international environment.
