Summary of the Position:

The ContentEvent Marketing Strategist decides how PMMI Media Group's content and events reach the people they were built for, and then makes it happen. Our editorial teams across Packaging World, ProFood World, Healthcare Packaging, OEM, and Mundo EXPO PACK produce webinars, reports, guides, video series, and events that packaging and processing professionals register for. This role owns the strategy and the execution behind promoting that work: who each piece is for, why they should care, what we say to them, and how one interaction leads to the next.

About 80% of the role is content promotion with an end goal of audience engagement. About 20% is marketing for PMG events, in partnership with the Events team. You will build the campaigns, write or direct the copy, run the tests, and analyze the results. You will also be expected to bring ideas we haven't tried - we are hiring for your thinking as much as your execution.

What We're Looking For:

  • You start with the audience. Before writing a line of copy, you can explain who the content is for, what problem it helps them solve, and why they would register for it.
  • You think in systems, not one-off sends. You see how a webinar promotion, a welcome series, a report, and an event connect, and you design them so each one feeds the next.
  • You have ideas, and you test them. You bring new approaches, run them as real experiments, and tell us plainly what worked and what didn't.
  • You use AI to work faster, not to think less. AI tools are embraced here, but the message, audience, and timing has to be yours, and your copy should read like it was written by someone who understood the content.
  • You're comfortable doing the work. Strategy in this role comes with building the campaign, working with production to set up the automation, and pulling and analyzing the report.

Duties and Responsibilities:

StrategyPlanning (approx. 15%)

  • Build and maintain an audience engagement and promotion plan for each brand (Packaging World, ProFood World, Healthcare Packaging, OEM, Mundo EXPO PACK), rolled up into one portfolio-level plan.
  • Own a single integrated marketing calendar across content promotion, automated programs, and events, so campaigns support each other instead of competing for the same inboxes.
  • Join editorial planning for registration-gated content and events early, so promotion is designed alongside the content rather than added after it ships.
  • Keep building your understanding of the packaging and processing industry, its professionals, and how B2B media reaches them: through editors, audience data, surveys, reader conversations, and event attendance.

Content PromotionAudience Engagement (approx. 45%)

  • Plan and execute promotion for all registration-worthy editorial content, including webinars, reports, e-books, guides, video series, and other gated assets, across email, web, social and paid channels.
  • Work with editors to understand each piece of content, its audience, and its value, and turn that into a specific reason to register. Write or direct campaign copy, subject lines, landing page copy and creative briefs.
  • Own, maintain, and improve our automated engagement programs, including welcome and onboarding series, drip and nurture campaigns, re-engagement, and re-subscribe/re-permission campaigns.
  • Design new automated and triggered programs that move users from anonymous to known, and from known to engaged.
  • Work with the data team and editors to define audience segments by brand, job function, industry and behavior, and target campaigns accordingly. (Rethink our entire targeting strategy.)

Event Marketing (approx. 20%)

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns (email, social, paid digital, web) to drive registration and awareness for assigned PMG events.
  • Partner with the event lead and content team to translate event programs and speaker lineups into compelling marketing narratives.
  • Manage event microsites and marketing collateral, and own the marketing calendar across multiple concurrent events.
  • Track campaign performance (open rate, click-through, conversion, cost-per-registration) while campaigns are running, and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Connect event marketing with content promotion: use editorial content to build event audiences, and use event participation to grow engaged audiences afterward.

TestingInnovation (approx. 10%)

  • Maintain a running test plan, run A/B and other tests with clear hypotheses. Document results and turn what works into standard practice.
  • Regularly propose new campaign concepts, including approaches PMG hasn't tried, with a clear rationale and a plan to measure them.

MeasurementReporting (approx. 10%)

  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on audience marketing and engagement, with analysis and recommendations that drive decisions.
  • Report on the outcomes that matter to the business, including registrations, new known users, engagement depth and event registration, alongside channel metrics.
  • Share what you learn with editors, so they understand which content and messages work for their audiences.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in content marketing, audience development, email marketing, or event marketing. B2B or media experience a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation and email platforms, including building automated, triggered and nurture programs. Experience with Omeda, Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) or similar a plus.
  • Experience in both acquisition and retention marketing, including testing, execution, and measurement.
  • Strong writer who can turn technical or industry content into clear, specific reasons to act. Writing samples required.
  • Demonstrated creativity: able to show campaigns you conceived, the thinking behind them, and the results.
  • Comfortable with data: able to pull, read and explain campaign and audience data, and use it to make decisions.
  • Working knowledge of AI writing and productivity tools, and the judgment to use them well.
  • Strong project management skills; able to manage multiple brands, campaigns and events at the same time.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with editorial, events, digital and data teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including to trade shows and PMG events.
