Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js, DevOps, and PostgreSQL to join our development team. The candidate will be responsible for backend development, database design and optimisation, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and application reliability.
The role offers an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of QCure, along with other enterprise software projects. Knowledge of React.js will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and RESTful APIs using Node.js.
- Design and manage PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, query optimisation, indexing, transactions, and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deployment.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain applications on cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Work with services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and Artifact Registry.
- Manage application hosting, server configuration, environment variables, secrets, logging, monitoring, and performance optimisation.
- Use Docker and containerisation technologies to maintain consistent development and deployment environments.
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure system reliability, availability, and scalability.
- Implement security best practices across application code, databases, cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product designers, and other team members to deliver reliable software solutions.
- Contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of QCure and other company products.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience in software development and DevOps.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript.
- Strong, practical expertise in PostgreSQL, including database design, SQL queries, indexing, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Practical experience deploying and maintaining applications on cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
- Experience with Git and version control workflows.
- Working experience with Docker and containerisation.
- Good understanding of Linux, networking, server configuration, and application deployment.
- Knowledge of application monitoring, logging, debugging, and security best practices.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Preferred Skills
- Good working knowledge of React.js.
- Experience with Google Cloud services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and Artifact Registry.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Knowledge of application scalability, high availability, and performance optimisation.
- Experience working on SaaS products or enterprise applications.
- Exposure to AI-powered applications or healthcare technology products.
