Finance Manager
Cyber Vigilance | Guildford, Surrey (hybrid, office-based most of the week)
£50,000 to £72,000 plus bonus and benefits | Full-time, permanent | Reports to the CEO
ABOUT US
Cyber Vigilance is a UK-based, services-led cyber security partner. We provide cyber security solutions and managed services, and resell leading security technologies to organisations that need to protect their people, data and infrastructure.
Founded eight years ago, we're a team of 14 serving SME and enterprise customers. We work with exciting vendors tackling new and old security challenges in innovative ways, and our revenue has grown more than fivefold over the past three years.
We're now launching a SaaS vendor business alongside our established reseller operation. It's an exciting stage of growth: two business models, two sets of economics, and a finance function that needs to support both.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to own every aspect of finance across the group. You'll produce the management accounts, run day-to-day finance operations, and give the leadership team the numbers they need to make good decisions.
A key part of the role is building and maintaining separate P&Ls for Cyber Vigilance and the new SaaS business, so each can be measured, reported and, in future, presented independently. You'll track the metrics that matter for both a reseller and a SaaS vendor, lead budgeting and forecasting, and keep a firm grip on billing, credit control and cash.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the detail but thinks commercially. For the right person, there's a clear path to Finance Director and to building and leading a finance team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Management accounts and reporting
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts to a tight timetable, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and commentary.
- Own the month-end and year-end close: reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, deferred and accrued income.
- Present results to the leadership team, explaining variances and what is driving performance.
- Prepare year-end files and act as the main point of contact for the external accountants and auditors.
Two P&Ls: reseller and SaaS
- Design and maintain a reporting structure (entities, tracking categories or cost centres) that gives a clean, separate P&L for Cyber Vigilance and for the SaaS business.
- Set and apply fair policies for shared costs, intercompany charges and recharges between the two.
- Make sure revenue is recognised correctly for each model, including software resale, managed services contracts and SaaS subscriptions.
- Ensure each business can be reported, budgeted and, if needed, presented to investors or acquirers on a standalone basis.
Budgeting, forecasting and performance
- Lead the annual budget process for both businesses, working with sales, operations and product leads.
- Maintain rolling forecasts and a 12-month cash flow forecast, and report actuals against budget monthly.
- Build financial models to support pricing, hiring, investment and launch decisions.
Business metrics
Track, report and help improve the KPIs that matter for each business:
- Reseller and managed services: gross margin by vendor, product and customer; managed services MRR and renewals; vendor rebates; pipeline and bookings; revenue per customer; DSO.
- SaaS: MRR and ARR; new, expansion and churned MRR; gross and net revenue retention; CAC and payback; LTV and LTV:CAC; burn rate, runway and gross margin.
Billing, invoicing and credit control
- Own the full order-to-cash process: accurate and timely invoicing, including recurring and subscription billing.
- Run credit control: chase overdue debts, agree payment plans and resolve billing queries.
- Set credit terms and assess new customers' creditworthiness.
- Report aged debt and DSO, and drive improvement.
Cash flow management
- Monitor the daily cash position and manage working capital across both businesses.
- Manage supplier payment runs and vendor terms.
- Flag funding needs early and support any banking, finance or investment discussions.
Finance operations
- Run monthly payroll (in-house or with a bureau), including pensions, P11D benefits and HMRC submissions.
- Calculate, track and pay sales commissions accurately, and help design future commission schemes.
- Manage expenses, purchase ledger and supplier onboarding.
Compliance and tax
- Prepare and submit VAT returns under Making Tax Digital, and manage PAYE and corporation tax deadlines with the external accountants.
- Support R&D tax credit claims for SaaS development where eligible.
- Maintain strong financial controls, approval processes and audit trails.
Systems and process
- Own and improve the finance systems (for example Xero, billing and subscription tools, expense software).
- Automate manual work and build processes that will scale as the business grows.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), or qualified by experience with substantial relevant background.
- At least three to five years' post-qualification or equivalent experience, including producing full management accounts.
- Experience as the sole or lead finance person in an SME, covering the full finance remit.
- Hands-on experience of billing, credit control, payroll and VAT.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling skills, with advanced Excel.
- Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar).
- A commercial mindset and the ability to explain numbers clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- Organised, self-motivated and comfortable in a fast-moving, growing business.
Desirable
- Experience in a SaaS or subscription business, including SaaS metrics and deferred revenue.
- Experience in IT, technology reseller or managed services businesses.
- Multi-entity or divisional reporting, including intercompany and cost allocation.
- Experience designing or administering sales commission plans.
- Exposure to fundraising, investor reporting or due diligence.
- Experience of R&D tax credits or subscription billing tools.
A ROLE DESIGNED TO GROW
As the business scales and the SaaS vendor matures, we expect the Finance Manager to take on more strategic responsibility, build and lead a finance team, and step up to Finance Director. We'll support professional development and further qualifications along the way.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Salary of £50,000 to £72,000, depending on experience.
- Discretionary annual bonus of up to 10% of salary.
- 20 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
- Company pension scheme.
- Private medical insurance, plus regular team events and socials.
- Hybrid working, with most of the week in our Guildford office. We're looking for someone who enjoys being in the office, working closely with the CEO, sales and operations teams.
- A clear route to Finance Director in a growing cyber security group.

Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Company events
- Company pension
- Free parking
- On-site parking
- Private medical insurance
