We are seeking a passionate and technically strong Data Analytics & BI Trainer to train students and graduates in Excel, SQL, Python for analytics, statistics, Power BI, data modelling, dashboards and AI-enabled business intelligence.
The ideal candidate should combine hands-on analytics expertise with the ability to teach concepts clearly, demonstrate real business use cases and mentor students through practical projects.
Job Summary
The trainer will deliver the Analytics Foundation stage of our Applied Data Science & AI Engineer programme, covering business problem-solving, Excel, statistics, SQL, Python-based data analysis, AI-assisted development, Power BI, DAX, data modelling, AI in BI and introductory Generative AI and Agentic AI applications for analytics.
The role involves instructor-led training, live demonstrations, practical assignments, project mentoring, assessments and technical interview preparation.
Key Responsibilities1. Technical Training & Curriculum Delivery
- Teach Excel fundamentals, advanced formulas, lookup functions, PivotTables, Power Query and dashboard development.
- Explain business problem framing, KPI identification, data interpretation and analytical thinking.
- Deliver statistics and probability sessions covering descriptive statistics, distributions, sampling, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression and A/B testing.
- Teach SQL using MySQL or PostgreSQL, including querying, filtering, joins, aggregation, subqueries, CTEs and window functions.
- Train students in Python for data analysis, including fundamentals, functions, data structures, NumPy, Pandas, APIs and data cleaning.
- Teach exploratory data analysis (EDA), data quality validation, outlier analysis and data visualisation.
- Deliver Power BI training covering data connections, Power Query, ETL, star schema, relationships, DAX, calculated columns, measures and advanced DAX.
- Explain dashboard design, interactive reports, drill-through, tooltips, bookmarks, row-level security and data storytelling.
- Introduce Power BI Service, publishing, scheduled refresh, workspaces and performance optimisation.
- Demonstrate AI-assisted Excel, SQL and DAX development using appropriate AI tools.
- Introduce AI in BI, forecasting, anomaly detection, AI-assisted reporting and Generative AI concepts.
- Demonstrate introductory RAG and Agentic AI workflows for analytics, including automated reporting and business insight summaries.
2. Practical Training & Real-World Projects
- Conduct live demonstrations, hands-on labs and guided exercises using business datasets.
- Create industry-oriented assignments based on sales, finance, HR, marketing, banking and operations.
- Mentor students through module-wise mini projects, including:
- Excel sales performance dashboard and business recommendations.
- SQL analysis of banking or customer transaction data.
- Python-based EDA and data quality reporting.
- Power BI HR attrition dashboard and retention recommendations.
- AI-assisted sales reporting and insight automation.
- Guide students in converting business requirements into KPIs, analytical questions and dashboard specifications.
- Teach students to interpret results, identify trends and communicate actionable recommendations.
- Review project documentation, dashboards and presentations.
3. Student Assessment & Mentoring
- Prepare daily practice tasks and module-wise assignments.
- Conduct weekly examinations, practical assessments and timed SQL or analytics tests.
- Conduct technical mock interviews and assess students' understanding of concepts.
- Evaluate mini projects and capstone projects using structured assessment rubrics.
- Provide individual feedback, additional practice and remediation where required.
- Monitor attendance, assignment completion, assessment scores and overall student progress.
- Help learners develop portfolio-ready projects and prepare for Data Analyst and BI Analyst interviews.
4. Curriculum Development & Academic Coordination
- Prepare lesson plans, presentations, datasets, practical exercises, assignments and assessment materials.
- Follow the approved curriculum and maintain training schedules.
- Develop case studies based on realistic business problems and industry scenarios.
- Coordinate with other trainers to ensure a smooth transition from analytics foundations to Data Science and AI Engineering.
- Work with academic and placement teams to support student readiness.
- Incorporate relevant developments in Power BI, analytics automation and AI-assisted business intelligence.
Required Technical Skills
Must-have skills
- Advanced Excel, including formulas, PivotTables and Power Query.
- SQL using MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Statistics and probability for business analytics.
- Python for data analysis, including Pandas, NumPy and data visualisation.
- Power BI Desktop, Power Query, data modelling and DAX.
- Dashboard development, KPI reporting and data storytelling.
- Hands-on analytical problem-solving using real or representative business datasets.
Preferred additional skills
- Power BI Service, workspace management, scheduled refresh and row-level security.
- Exposure to Tableau or other BI platforms.
- AI-assisted analytics using ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot.
- Basic understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, RAG and Agentic AI workflows.
- Familiarity with tools such as n8n, BigQuery, dbt or Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience using Git/GitHub for project documentation and portfolio development.
Educational Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech, MCA, M.Sc., MBA Analytics or a related qualification preferred.
- Relevant certifications in Microsoft Power BI, analytics or related technologies are an advantage.
- Strong practical experience and demonstrable projects will be valued.
Experience Requirements
- Demonstrable hands-on experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, reporting or related roles.
- Experience with business dashboards, SQL analysis and analytical reporting.
- Prior experience in technical training, mentoring, corporate training or academic instruction is preferred.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate their technical skills through a practical assessment.
