Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and successful project execution. Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scope.
- Utilize estimation software such as Xactimate to develop accurate pricing models and bid proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing data and negotiate terms that benefit all parties.
- Review project plans and specifications thoroughly to identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in the development of project budgets, schedules, and resource planning to ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, revisions, and correspondence for transparency and future reference.
- Support project management teams throughout the bidding process and during project execution by providing ongoing cost analysis.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.
- Proficiency in estimation tools such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam; familiarity with other software like Excel is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Strong project management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple estimates simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Solid construction experience that provides insight into material costs, labor rates, and scheduling considerations.
- Knowledge of construction estimating best practices, pricing strategies, and bid preparation procedures.
- Effective communication skills to clearly articulate estimates and collaborate across teams.
