**Branch Manager**
**Position Overview:** The Branch Manager is responsible for all branch operations and activities including personnel, equipment, scheduling, inventory, facilities, environment, safety, and security.
**Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**
**General Management:**
* Management of yard and office staff, including attendance, punctuality, timekeeping, and disciplinary actions. Ensure work is completed efficiently and to quality standards. * Manage the staffing, training, and mentoring of all employees, in coordination with HQ. * Assign correct equipment cost to sales orders. * Manage third party transportations and support vendor relationships. * Guard company intellectual property and maintain company confidentiality standards. * Provide continuous feedback regarding inventory needs, fleet size requirements, sales trends, and competition, and make recommendations as required.
**Office:**
* Manage coordination between office staff and yard employees to ensure 3 day look ahead sales orders are dug out, clean, repaired and assigned to orders. * Ensure new accounts have proper credit applications/customer information sheets filled, matching OV account. Ensure proper paperwork for all tax\-exempt sales, prefer tax exemption form on file. * Manage staff to ensure orders picked up by 3rd party trucking hired by the customer have a BOL. * Manage staff to ensure containers picked up directly from the Depot by customer are reported to EC. * Manage old orders, clean as necessary, notify accounting when a Credit Memo must be created. * Ensure simple customer billing inquiries and credit/rebills are handled at the branch level. * Ensure copies of all POs are attached to the order.
**Trucking:**
* Manage fleet safety by performing a combination of hands\-on post trip inspection and direct supervision over driver performed pre\- and post\-trip inspections, reporting findings daily to the fleet dispatcher. Schedule vehicle maintenance and repairs (shop, mobile, CHE) as needed. * Manage schedule and trucking/driver activities/HOS IAW DOT safety/compliance standards. * Ensure efficient flow of truck traffic in yard, enforce policy of no paperwork/tie downs in loading corridor. Develop strategies to move trucks quickly through the yard. Manage pre\-gate check in with additional yard staff. Prioritize loading and unloading of Dry Box trucks where possible. * Manage daily pre\-inspections and maintenance of all lift equipment, request service as required, manage monthly cab cleanings.
**Yard:**
* Manage monthly inventory verification, report discrepancies. Track/charge SBLU re\-prefixing. * Manage yard schedule. Ensure all day\-to\-day yard activities are completed efficiently and accurately and in accordance with company standards. * Manage overall safe operation of the yard and environmental cleanliness/compliance. * Manage staff to ensure yard maintained storm\-ready, down\-step/maintain 5ft gaps between rows, secure stacking of office and 1\-phase reefer stacks, nothing within 5ft of HVAC equipment. * Responsible for yard inventory and accuracy of equipment control activities. * Manage proper in and out gates of all containers entering and leaving the yard. * Enforce container quality program and tag system\- inspection on in/out\-gates. Manage efficient repair and cleaning of all OOS containers, use Omni\-View filter to organize work schedules. * Ensure office containers are promptly cleaned to acceptable standards. Immediately log and transfer containers with excessive cleaning or repairs, if applicable. * Coordinate with repair shop for estimates and ensure damages are promptly addressed.
**Supervision Received:** The position is supervised by the company President.
**Supervision Exercised:** The Branch Manager supervises the administrative staff, yard staff and truck drivers in their assigned branch.
**Qualifications \& Skills:**
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 year degree or technical training, 4 years’ experience in warehouse management, yard management, or DOT compliance, and 4 years' experience in a leadership capacity.
MINIMUM TECHICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong verbal and phone skills, organized, good time management skills, able to handle multiple projects, positive attitude even under stress, strong computer skills, strong mechanical skills, driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The preferred level of education is a Bachelor’s Degree in organizational management or equivalent, plus 4 years of yard management experience. Prefer a candidate with 6 years of successful leadership experience in a competitive environment.
