Company & Role Overview

This is a high-impact, hands-on role within a market-leading, high-volume automated manufacturing facility. Designed for a proactive engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, this role offers the perfect blend of rapid breakdown response, structured planned maintenance, and continuous improvement project work. Instead of just replacing parts, you will truly own site reliability; minimising operational downtime and maximising efficiency across advanced, highly automated production lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Swiftly respond to emergency production breakdowns, using logical fault-finding across automated machinery including conveyors, extruders, palletisers, vacuum packers, form sealers, and wrappers.
  • Deliver robust Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules, carrying out corrective repairs and lubrication tasks in a timely manner.
  • Perform high-level electrical installation, fault diagnosis on PLC systems, and work with servo motor principles and schematic drawings.
  • Support site capital projects, machinery modifications, and the development of clear maintenance SOPs to drive continuous improvement (CI/TPM).
  • Operate to strict health and safety standards at all times, ensuring total compliance with safe systems of work, RAMS, Permits to Work, and Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) protocols.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records through the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

What We Are Looking For

  • A time-served, recognised Engineering Apprenticeship paired with an NVQ Level 3 and City & Guilds in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (HNC/ONC desirable).
  • Strong multi-skilled capabilities with a robust electrical bias, including 17th/18th Edition IEE Regulations and practical PLC fault-finding competence.
  • Demonstrated experience working on automated packaging, wrapping, or high-speed production line machinery.
  • Advanced electrical wiring skills, the ability to read complex schematic drawings, and a solid understanding of workshop techniques.
