About the Hero Foundation
The Hero Foundation is Employment Hero’s ACNC registered charity. We use EH’s tech and network of customers to connect people that have faced barriers to the workforce into work. The Foundation partners with charities, onboards their candidates onto EH Jobs as Hero Foundation candidates, and gives them a supported job search experience. We are already present in Australia, and will be present in all of Employment Hero’s markets by early 2027. It is an incredibly exciting time in the journey, and this Product hire will be totally essential in supporting thousands of deserving candidates into work.

The Role
We are looking for a founding Product Owner to join our Hero Foundation Squad in ANZ. In this role, you will lead the execution of a strategic product roadmap aimed at driving platform customisation across candidate acquisition, onboarding, and employer engagement.
You will work closely with key internal stakeholders to optimise conversion funnels.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Strategy Execution
- Own, prioritise, and execute the product roadmap for platform customisation initiatives.
- Translate product vision into clear deliverables, balancing user desirability, business goals, and technical feasibility.
- Apply dual-track prioritisation frameworks to protect long-term strategic initiatives from ad-hoc operational requests.
- Attend weekly executive strategy sessions, presenting product progress and clarifying strategic decisions.
- Manage, refine, and prioritize the squad backlog, creating well-defined specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Funnel Optimisation & Metrics
- Lead data-driven optimisation of candidate acquisition, onboarding, and employer conversion funnels.
- Drive core product performance metrics, including improving the candidate sign-up to application conversion rate.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Alignment
- Partner with Product Designers, Engineers, and Technical Architects to deliver high-quality, feasible UX designs.
- Map, manage, and unblock key technical dependencies across internal teams, including Legal, Security, and Profile Authentication.
- Work with Sales, Marketing, and Support teams to develop launch collateral, rollout plans, and clear product communications.
Who You Are
- 2+ years of experience as a Product Owner in a high-velocity, performance-driven product team is ideal, but not required.
- Experience working directly on AI products or in data-heavy environments is a strong plus.
- Strong command of prioritisation frameworks to maintain strategic focus amidst competing priorities.
- Executive presence with the confidence and pushback capability needed to navigate high-stakes leadership discussions.
- Ability to coordinate and align complex dependencies across Legal, Security, and Authentication teams.
- Degree in IT, Business Systems, Engineering, Economics, or a quantitative discipline preferred.
- Highly structured, resilient, UX-centric, and thrive in fast-paced, autonomous environments.
