The **Production \& Quality Engineer** serves as the vital link between engineering design, quality control, and factory\-floor execution. You will oversee manufacturing workflows for sheet metal processing (laser cutting, CNC punching, press brake bending, welding, and assembly), maintain rigorous Quality Assurance (QA/QC) frameworks, drive root\-cause problem solving, and lead continuous improvement (Lean/5S) initiatives to maximize first\-pass yield and throughput.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Production \& Manufacturing Engineering**

* Design, refine, and optimize sheet metal manufacturing routings, cell layouts, and production workflows to minimize lead times and eliminate bottlenecks. * Create, standardize, and maintain Detailed Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and production BOMs. * Provide direct technical support to shop\-floor technicians on tooling setup, press brake bend deductions, laser/punch parameters, and assembly tolerances. * Coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) handoffs from CAD design to prototype build and full volume production run.

**Quality Assurance \& Quality Control**

* Establish, inspect, and maintain internal QA/QC control plans, incoming material inspections, in\-process dimensional audits, and final quality sign\-offs. * Conduct root\-cause analysis (8D, 5\-Why, Fishbone) for non\-conformances (NCRs), field failures, or customer returns (RMA), implementing effective CAPA protocols. * Enforce adherence to GD\&T specifications, weld quality standards, and critical\-to\-quality (CTQ) dimensional callouts. * Maintain ISO 9001 quality management system compliance and assist with internal/external quality audits.

**Continuous Improvement \& Maintenance**

* Spearhead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives across cutting, forming, welding, and powder\-coating operations. * Partner with maintenance leadership to establish Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules for critical machinery (CNC lasers, press brakes, punch presses).

**Qualifications \& Requirements**

**Required:**

* **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline / proven trade experience. * **Experience:** 3\+ years in a production, manufacturing, or quality engineering role within precision sheet metal fabrication or heavy metal manufacturing. * **Technical Knowledge:** Deep understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, turret punching, CNC bending, TIG/MIG welding, hardware insertion, and surface finishing). * **Quality Systems:** Practical expertise with ISO 9001 frameworks, structured CAPA processes, and precision measuring tools (CMM, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators). * **Software \& CAD:** Proficiency reading technical blueprints and GD\&T symbols. Experience using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and factory ERP/MRP execution systems.
