Primary duties
- Own the project’s technical integration strategy, engineering scope and coordinated delivery from planning through acceptance.
- Integrate hardware, software and mechanical subsystems into a coherent system architecture and verified product baseline.
- Integrate systems, safety, security and industrialisation activities across the development lifecycle.
- Manage technical interfaces, dependencies, trade-offs and cross-disciplinary risks.
- Provide clear system-level technical direction, decisions, reporting and escalation to project and engineering leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the technical integration plan, including architecture, interfaces, dependencies, integration sequence, resources, milestones and evidence.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design and ensure subsystem solutions collectively satisfy system requirements and operational needs.
- Lead interface definition and control across internal teams, suppliers, platforms and customer systems.
- Plan and lead incremental subsystem and system integration, verification, validation and acceptance activities.
- Resolve cross-disciplinary conflicts and technical gaps through evidence-based trade-offs and system-level decisions.
- Maintain requirements traceability, interface control, configuration baselines and integration evidence.
- Ensure the integrated design is producible, supportable and ready for production, deployment and customer use.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications are desirable.
- At least five years’ experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and technical integration on complex projects.
- Demonstrated delivery of subsystem integration, interface management and system-level verification through to an accepted product baseline.
- Demonstrated depth in at least one engineering discipline and working knowledge across hardware, software, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, safety, security and industrialisation.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, requirements, technical governance, configuration management and production transition.
- Experience delivering within Australian Defence technical-regulatory and ASDEFCON environments is desirable.
