VICE PRESIDENT – OPERATIONS

SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Operations is a key member of the Executive Team responsible for leading and advancing operational excellence across EQUS. The VP of Operations ensures daily operational procedures are consistently applied across EQUS’ Service Area, meeting or exceeding industry best practices. The role oversees the implementation of annual construction and maintenance programs, while driving growth and creating a cohesive team culture. The VP of Operations creates strong alignment between field execution, member satisfaction, and EQUS’ strategic priorities.
DUTIES:
- Participates on the Executive Team to accomplish EQUS’ strategic plan, fostering high performance through values-based decision-making, leadership, and teamwork.
- Develops an integrated and highly effective Operations Leadership Team, overseeing all operations functions in Standards, System Operations, and Northern, Central, and Southern Alberta.
- Ensures comprehensive system planning and development of distribution system infrastructure – and related technology – across EQUS’ Service Area to meet the needs of current and prospective members.
- Drives workflow improvement across all Operations functions, achieving both process efficiency and high-quality results.
- Promotes the importance of a strong safety culture among all Operations team members.
- Responsible for annal budget management for the Operations group.
- Works closely with the VP of Business Services to support sales and growth, strategic partnerships, and member satisfaction across EQUS’ Service Area.
- Sponsors special projects that deliver on EQUS’ strategic plan and, leads change management initiatives when required.
- Ensures that all resources (staff, equipment, inventory, facilities, and budgets) are managed prudently and deployed in a manner that provides the greatest return on investment, with our members in mind.
REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF WORK:
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities with a track record of coaching and mentoring employees.
- The ability to lead, through others, an organization with several locations and cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of operational process management and electric utility best practices.
- This job requires regular travel to various locations across EQUS’ Service Area.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 10 + years of progressive leadership experience in Operations.
- Experience in the power line industry.
- A Business degree or equivalent education is considered an asset.
