**About the role**

This is a hands\-on engineering role with real leadership scope. You look after the infrastructure, keep the Moodle e\-learning platform healthy, build custom application features in PHP. You report to the Chief Operating Officer, so your work sits close to the decisions.

Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

**What you will do**

Systems and infrastructure

* Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools * Manage and monitor all installed systems and server infrastructure * Keep core business platforms available, current and secure, including Moodle * Maintain security, backup and redundancy strategies * Write scripts and automation to cut manual work and reduce error * Plan upgrades, capacity and lifecycle replacement before they become urgent * Maintain the organisation's websites and digital platforms

Application development

* Turn departmental requirements into application features and functional specifications * Design prototypes and write source code using PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript * Build and update custom Moodle LMS plugins * Run unit, integration, functional and non\-functional testing before launch * Debug and improve existing applications * Write technical documents and handbooks to match the design and code

Business analysis and improvement

* Investigate how the Institute works, then define configuration specifications and technology requirements * Use data and process modelling to shape system software across the life cycle * Run system tests to monitor performance and quality * Recommend improvements to senior management with evidence behind them

Training and user support

* Provide first and second level application support to staff and students * Build education and training packages with departments and the Learning Team * Prepare training manuals and run sessions and seminars * Orient end users after new systems go live * Gather user feedback and close the loop on ongoing issues

Team leadership

* Lead, coach and roster the IT support team * Set clear expectations, priorities and development plans * Provide second and third level support for escalated issues * Report on team performance, system health and incident trends to the Chief Operating Officer

Vendors, security and projects

* Own vendor, contractor and managed service provider relationships * Negotiate contracts, licensing and service level agreements, then hold suppliers to them * Oversee budget preparation and resource planning for IT projects * Maintain and lift the cyber security posture across access control, patching and monitoring * Protect student and staff records in line with AQF and organisational requirements * Lead incident response for outages, security events and data issues * Deliver IT projects from scoping through to implementation and handover

Pay: $80,000\.00 – $90,000\.00 per year
