Elk Valley Resources (EVR) operates four steelmaking coal mines that employ over 5,000 people in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. At EVR there are currently 5 water treatment facilities which use a variety of treatment technologies to achieve compliance of mine impacted water in the receiving environment. The successful applicant will be placed at any one of the following facilities based on education, experience and business need. Saturated Rock Fill (SRF) – Fording River Operation North (FRON) & Elkview Operations (EVO): EOCP Certification - Level 4 wastewater treatment Innovative, passive water treatment using waste rock backfilled pits as a natural bioreactor to remove contaminants from mine impacted water Active Water Treatment Facility (AWTF) – Fording River Operations South (FROS): EOCP Certification - Level 4 wastewater treatment Technology – fluidized bed reactor, moving bed biofilm reactor, ballasted sand clarifier, continuous backwash sand filter, filter press, and advanced oxidation process (ozone generation). Reverse Osmosis and High-Density Sludge (ROHDS) – Dry Creek (LCDC) EOCP Certification - New facility 2026, pending certification. Technology – ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, high density sludge (HDS) system, lime slaking, filter press and remineralization system. AWTF & ROHDS combined – West Line Creek (WLC) EOCP Certification - Level 4 wastewater treatment Technology – fluidized bed reactor, moving bed biofilm reactor, ballasted sand clarifier, continuous backwash sand filter, advanced oxidation process (ozone generation). Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, High Density Sludge (HDS), Lime Slaking, Filter Press, Remineralization. Join us in the breathtaking Elk Valley of British Columbia.
