Excel Packaging Machinery Ltd is a UK market-leading supplier of high-quality liquid filling and capping machinery. We specialize in providing comprehensive packaging solutions including design, manufacture, installation, and lifecycle support to the Cosmetic, Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, and Healthcare industries. Due to continued business growth and recent company expansion, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Service Engineer to join our expanding engineering team covering the UK.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for long-term career development within a well-established organization. Working closely with our Service Manager and Company Directors, you will provide critical installation, maintenance, servicing, and technical support to our clients across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
In this classic service engineering role, your primary focus will be delivering planned maintenance, repairs, and refurbishments at existing client sites. Your duties will include:
- Maintenance & Repair: Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine servicing, and diagnosing/repairing complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-system faults.
- Breakdown Support: Attending customer sites promptly to troubleshoot breakdowns and provide effective technical support both on-site and remotely.
- Upgrades & Installations: Installing, commissioning, and setting up new packaging machinery at customer sites, as well as executing machinery modifications and upgrades.
- Quality Assurance: Completing accurate service reports, maintenance records, and testing documentation (including Factory Acceptance Testing assistance when required).
- Customer Relations: Maintaining professional relationships with clients, providing operator training, offering basic technical guidance, and representing the company positively.
- Cross-Department Support: Assisting the sales department with machinery demonstrations and identifying recurring faults to recommend permanent preventative solutions.
- Travel: Traveling to customer sites across the UK regularly, with occasional overseas travel to machine suppliers in Italy. This role requires flexibility for overnight stays (averaging 1 to 2 nights per week).
Requirements to be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications: Must have completed a formal engineering apprenticeship or hold equivalent relevant qualifications.
- Technical Skills: Fully trained engineer with a broad-based, robust knowledge of both mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Experience: Prior experience servicing process or packaging machinery is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Licence: Must possess a clean, full UK driving licence.
- Proximity: Ideally located within a 2-to-3-hour commute of our main office in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.

Pay: £27,656.95-£47,617.43 per year
