Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will join our Mining and Metals team and work alongside experienced electrical engineers, designers, and project managers on a variety of mining and industrial projects. As an Electrical EIT / Engineering Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience in electrical power distribution, mine infrastructure, instrumentation and control systems, and multidisciplinary project delivery while developing the technical and professional skills needed to become a licensed Professional Engineer.
What a day at EXP has in store for you

Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems for mining and industrial facilities.

Support the development of power distribution systems, motor control centers, substations, lighting systems, grounding, and cable routing designs.

Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design packages.

Contribute to the development of single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and electrical schematics.

Coordinate with mechanical, process, structural, civil, and instrumentation teams to support integrated project delivery.

Participate in site visits, inspections, commissioning support, and field investigations as required.

Support engineering studies, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination analyses.

Assist with project documentation, quality reviews, and adherence to applicable codes and standards. Contribute to project meetings and collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

What your experience looks like
-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a provincial engineering association.

Interest in mining, metals, industrial facilities, and infrastructure projects.

Familiarity with electrical engineering fundamentals, including power systems and electrical equipment.

Exposure to engineering design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, EasyPower, SKM, or similar tools is considered an asset.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning. Previous co-op, internship, or related industry experience is considered an asset.

This job posting is for an existing position vacancy within our organization.
The salary range for this role is between $61K - $82K .The actual compensation package will be based on several factors unique to each candidate, including education, experience, skill set, certifications, and work location.
