Fairway Furniture is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Operations Manager to take senior responsibility for our warehouse, logistics, facilities and Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality functions.
This is a broad, influential role for a practical leader who can maintain high standards of safety and compliance while improving efficiency, controlling cost, and helping our operational teams deliver excellent service to customers. Reporting to the Managing Director and working as part of the Senior Management Team, you will oversee the Warehouse Manager and help shape operational priorities across the business.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Leading and supporting the Warehouse Manager and operational teams.
- Overseeing warehousing, distribution, home delivery, delivery fleet performance and operational capacity.
- Leading HSEQ activity, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, audits, incident investigation and compliance records.
- Ensuring Company premises, equipment and infrastructure remain safe, secure, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Managing facilities contractors, maintenance programmes, suppliers and operational budgets.
- Driving service, productivity, and cost improvements using operational data and clear performance measures.
- Supporting business continuity, store development, refurbishment, and fit-out projects.
- Sponsoring operational compliance and safety training.
- Contributing to wider business planning and decision-making as a member of the Senior Management Team.
What We Are Looking For
- Significant operational management experience, ideally including warehouse and logistics responsibility.
- Practical HSEQ and facilities management experience, with a strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- A proven record of leading teams, managing budgets, and delivering operational improvement.
- Strong commercial judgement, organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A visible, hands-on leadership style and the confidence to challenge existing practices constructively.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, facilities, logistics, supply chain or project-management qualifications would be advantageous.
- Experience in retail, distribution, furniture, home delivery, or a multi-site environment would be particularly relevant.
The Package
- £45,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
